** I am not the best at writing chapter titles so I prefer to just write the chapter's number. If anyone would prefer me to name the chapters, just let me know in the comments, and I will try my best : ) (Christian White above)
Third Person POV
"Alexis Dainley"
Her name rang out through the entire auditorium as she approached the stage to receive her diploma. Hundreds of other graduating seniors soon followed suit when eventually another name was called.
"Christian White"
It was hard not to notice how happy he was because of the smile that stretched from one side of his face to the other.
Smiling, Alexis curtly nodded to him, signaling that she was extremely proud of him, even if it didn't show. She was never really one to be emotional and always kept a straight face.
Speeches were said, tears were cried, and caps were thrown.
Alexis sighed with relief as she realized the long ceremony was over, meaning that she was officially an adult. Words would never be able to describe how determined she was at the moment. Her plans and goals now seemed closer than ever; it was as if she could just reach out and grab them with her own bare hands. However, being Alexis Dainley, someone who over-complicated everything and always thought logically, she knew that it was going to be tough if she wanted to start her own company: especially since she wanted to decrease poverty in Africa and build a hotel for the homeless here in America.
For Christian, as much as he wanted to go out and get started working as a divorce attorney at the Grey's Family Law Firm, he was glad that he was going to spend more time with his best friend.
The two had met in high school under certain circumstances. They had both tied in the election for Associated Student Body as presidents, so the school decided that for the first time, the position 'President' would be changed to 'Co-Presidents'.
They soon befriended one another after a huge argument had taken place during one of the meetings of ASB. The stubborn pair had butt heads during one of the topics concerning that year's homecoming theme.
The principal of the school then resorted to pulling Dainley and White out of class to make amends between the two. Once the principal exited the classroom, White caught Dainley's eyes and burst out laughing.
She gave him a questioning look, and he explained his reasoning saying, "I don't even know why we were arguing in the first place."
Alexis didn't reply and simply walked out of the room to get back to class. Christian then caught up to her and started talking to her animatedly, (he actually continued this for a couple of weeks) resulting in her becoming more annoyed than she had ever been. Considering the generation she was forced to live with, she was surprised he had managed such an accomplishment.
Once they reached the end of the hall where they went in separate directions, which (at the time) Alexis was thankful for, Christian held out his hand and called for truce and friendship. Her face stayed straight as she raised an eyebrow and turned on her heel, leaving Christian behind in an extremely awkward position alone in the hallways.
However, if it weren't for Christian's persistent attitude, he would have never become Alexis's best friend.
Alexis and Christian met up at their favorite ice cream shop to celebrate their graduation from Yale University.
They began collecting their things, and as they were walking out the door, Alexis turned to her best friend that she could ever have.
"Promise me that no matter what, we will always remain best friends and continue to contact each other no matter where life takes us." By the way Alexis was speaking, you would think that she was demanding it and not pleading. "I value our friendship a lot, probably more than you can ever imagine."
Christian took in everything about Alexis: her appearance, her way of speaking, anything that would help him remember her in the next few years.
"Alexis, trust me. It would take more than oceans to be able to distance me from you." He embraced her, and they stayed in that position for a while.
Unfortunately, things change and those meaningful words soon were drowned in the miles between the pair and the work that soon overpowered everything in their lives.

*fast forward five years*Chris's (Christian) POV
"Hey Chris, you have a new client." A familiar head popped into my office.
"Alright thanks, Tom."
I submitted the paperwork from my previous case and closed my laptop. After organizing my desk a little, I stepped out of the room to greet the next person I would be representing in court. As I passed by Tom, one of my closest friends in the office, he whispered, "You're one lucky guy, Chris."
I rolled my eyes at his comment. After all the years I have worked with him, I still can't believe the way he acts unprofessionally.
As I entered the lobby, I walked over to the receptionist to receive all of the forms for my client. I turned around at the sound of someone clearing their throat behind me. A woman who looked around the age of 25 held out her hand.
"Hi, I'm Kelsie Sultvander. You must be Christian White."
"That is correct. You are my client, I presume."
She giggled, "Wow, you must be really smart to figure that out."
I cringed inwardly but kept my posture straight.
Alright, well the sooner I am done with this case, the sooner I am done with her.
"Here you go, Chris." Leana handed me the tablet with all of Kelsie's information on it. We exchanged looks, and she had an expression on her face that seemed to be saying good luck. I simply nodded to her.
As I turned to leave, Kelsie supposedly dropped her pen on accident; of course, we all know that with the skirt and blouse she was wearing, her private parts soon became public as she bent down to grab it.
We eventually reached my office, and I must say, it took awhile because of the shows she put on for the men in the firm. I must say, out of every client I have had, I'm never surprised that women like Kelsie are getting a divorce.
I approached my desk and opened my laptop. For whatever reason, Kelsie knocked over a frame as she attempted to sit 'casually' on the corner of the table.
"Oops, sorry about that." As she picked up the picture, she glanced at who was in it. "Who's this?"
My heart stopped for a couple of seconds when I looked that the photograph.
"My friend," I replied curtly, not wanting to get on the topic of that woman.
"Are you guys dating?"
I pretended to not have heard her as I opened one of my drawers in search of some paperwork for her to fill out.
"What's her name?" Kelsie asked.
Since when did this become 20 questions?
Nevertheless, I answered. "Alexis. Alexis Dainley."
Her eyes widened for a second and she seemed surprised.
My suspicions were raised at her strange actions. "What?"
"Oh, nothing. I just thought you were referring to someone I know, but then I realized she's married."
We finished quickly; actually that was an understatement. It took us nearly an hour to finish the paperwork alone because of the numerous amount of times she attempted to seduce me.
Once she left, I immediately went online to check the records to see how many Alexis Dainley's there were in the world.
*A/N - not sure if this is possible in the real world for an attorney but let us just use our imagination
Four results showed up: one of which being the one I know. There were three other Alexis Dainleys, but they were all out of the question due to age, ethnicity, and where they lived. (One lives in Japan and can't speak any English so she was definitely out of the picture.)
My heart dropped as I realized that Alexis Dainley, my Alexis Dainley, is wedded to another guy.
