Chapter Six

Niall's POV:

(A/n: When I say football I mean soccer)

After rehearsal, I spot Emma's dad siting on the couch in the tour bus by himself, watching a football game. I nervously sit down next to him and look down at my fidgeting hands resting in my lap.

"Uh, Mr. Green, can I ask you something?" I stumble.

"No need. I already know what you are going to ask. You may not date my daughter," Jimmy answers.

"H-how'd you know?"

"Well for starters, you called me Mr. Green. And also, I know how you two feel about each other."

"But... I'm only asking to take her out to dinner tonight. Not date her..." I argue.

"No way."

"Why? I would never, ever hurt her," I assure him.

"Because she will be a distraction to you."

"But Louis and Zayn have girlfriends," I complain. It's just so unfair!

"Niall, I know that you would be good to Emma, but you know how management feels about you dating," Jimmy reminds me.

"It's just dinner!" Ugh, I don't see the problem here.

"But then there will be pictures, and pictures start rumors, and there can't be rumors."

I can't take it anymore.

"Whatever," I mutter, walking out of the room, and running into Zayn.

"Hey, bro," Zayn greets me cheerfully. "Wanna play FIFA with Louis, Harry, and I?"

"No," I reply shortly.

"What's the matter?" he asks.

"Fucking management not letting me take Emma to dinner."

"Man, that sucks. Why don't you just make a dinner for you two here?" Zayn suggests helpfully.

"I guess that'll have to do. Good idea. Thanks, mate."

"Anytime," he replies, walking into the other room to play video games.

I go to find Emma to tell her the news. She's laying in her bunk talking to Megan and Ally, Lou's new assistant.

"Em, can I talk to you alone for a sec?" I nervously ask.

"Sure," she replies with a small smile. The two others get up and leave us in the bunk area alone.

"What's up?" Emma asks.

"Well, I talked to your dad, and-"

"He said no?" she interrupts.

"Um, yeah. He said no. You're a distraction, and management doesn't want rumors, cause I'm not allowed to date," I explain.

"Why not?"

"I guess the fans like 'Single Niall'" I infer.

"Well that's too bad. I was really looking forward to tonight," Emma replies sadly.

"I was thinking that maybe you could join me for a homemade dinner here, instead?" I offer.

"I would absolutely love to," Emma agrees in a posh English accent.
