Tyler never veiwed josh as a side kick. He always thought they were equal, in fact once when they took over the cafeteria in middle school a teacher called Josh the 'side kick' of the whole opperation, saing that he wouldnt get in as much trouble as Tyler. After that Tyler punched him, before running away from campus with Josh. they werent caught for that because they were so young but, with age they developed worse and worse ways to get their way.
Josh never liked being called the 'side kick', but thats what he was given so now-a-days he just accepts it, it means he can still be with Tyler.
The duo never like hurting people, not at all, but Tyler would hurt anyone who messed with Josh, and Josh swore to do the same for Tyler. Always and forever.
Yes, Josh swore to always protect and stay with Tyler. Josh, who is bestest friends with Tyler just so happens to also be in love with him. But all his life he has been told he is a freak, and freaks cant love or be loved, hes learned that the hard way.
Tyler however, unknowinlgy to everyone, especially josh feels the same way.
