My name is violet I'm a shifter. I live in a small house near a stream. Our house is small but my mother and I can work it out. My father die trying to save my mother and me. He was a shifter and so Is my mother, and I. The only thing I have left of him is an old stuffed animal he gave me for my 4th birthday. I don't really have any memories of him.I still love him even though I haven't seen him in a while. My wrists have eight letters. Four on each side of my wrists. Sometimes I wonder if the goddess made a mistake and just decided to make my life harder. But mother says she did it for a reason. A reason I don't understand. Mother has been out for a while, and I was tending to mother's house and garden.
Sometimes mother goes out and doesn't come back for a while, and I'm home alone for a while. I get scared one of the four kings or his guards will catch her. She says that no matter what she will always love me, and she told me to never shift when someone asks me to. She said I would be slaughtered like a pig.
After gathering the food from the garden. Then I realized I haven't gotten this morning's water. The only reason i forgot to get it was because we had some leftover water from the other day. Mother says to never go out once she is gone, but if I don't go out and get it I won't have water for dinner to night.
I grab the water jug and close the door as I'm heading out. Making sure to be careful not make too much noise and if I did someone could find me. If I got into trouble mother would surely be upset. As I approached the the river I felt like someone was following me. I turned toward the water and put the jug in the water.
Filling it to the top I put the lid back on until I felt someone's and hands go over my eyes. "Guess who." I knew who it was it was my friend. His mother also was one of the shifters that made it out. Sadly she died when giving birth to him so i really could have never met her. "Liam what are you doing out?" He took his hands off of my eyes and I turned to face him. "I came to ask you the same thing Violet." He had a smirk on his face then I remembered that I wasn't supposed to be outside.
"Umm. I needed water and-"
"You thought it was a good idea to come and get some." He had a grin on his face. I didn't have anything else to say. "Come on Vi I won't tell your mother you were out. Come on I'll walk you home." He took the jug from my hand and we started walking.
"So why were you outside Liam?" I had a smirk on my face knowing we have the same rules to never go out at night. "I told you I was coming to ask you that same thing."
"Liam that's not really an answer. Why were you really outside?" He stopped and siged.
"Okay I was already outside and I saw you walking I wanted to make sure that you were ok." He rubbed the back of his neck. Even though he is older than me I have known him for a very long time.
"Hmm okay as long as you don't tell my mother I was outside than were okay." I stuck my right hand out. "As Long as you don't pester me about this later." We shook hands together. "Deal." I took the water jug back and walked back into my house. "Goodbye Liam." He waved good bye and started walking in the direction of his cottage. I put the water jug on the small kitchen table and started making dinner.
By the time dinner was done mother hadn't returned and I started to get a little worried. This was the 4th day she was out. What if one of the king's guards had gotten to her. I tried to stay calm and continued to eat my dinner.
I stayed up for a while hoping she was come home, but after a while I got tired and decided to go to bed. My bed was small but it could do. I have one pillow and one blanket. I grabbed my bear and started to fall asleep.
Hopefully when I woke up mother would be there.
