I was really regretting focusing all of my time and energy on the Villain's League. I was seriously behind in most of my classes, so naturally, I opted to simply not even try to catch up.
So there I was, my mind was wandering as I sat in my precalculus class, idly playing with a piece of string I had pulled from my sweater. I was recording the lecture on my phone, because I could never focus long enough to take notes during class. Anyways, it wasn't as if I was going to be working with math in the future. In fact, it was unlikely that I'd ever have a career past being evil. How incredibly optimistic.
After what felt like way too long, the class ended and I was free for the rest of the day. It was five o'clock in the evening, and Noah and I always hung out on Tuesdays since neither of us were busy and Noah liked to have a very set schedule. So I wasn't too surprised when I saw him waiting at the bus stop, tapping his foot impatiently.
"You always take too long," he said as I neared him.
I rolled my eyes. "I came straight from class," I told him for what was probably the thousandth time. "You're the one who's early."
Noah tried to scowl, but I could see a trace of amusement in his eyes. When the bus pulled up, we both climbed in and sat in the back, avoiding the group of girls who were talking about some class in front of us. His frown was back in full force; ever the serious one, that Noah. But I didn't mind. When we got to our dorm, he'd be back to his charming, charismatic self. Shame not many people got to see that.
"So, what do you want to do?" Noah asked as we walked up the stairs to get to our dorm.
"I don't really care, we could watch a movie? I'm just really tired," I admitted. It was true; all of these errands I was running for the League had me exhausted. Hopefully, though, Noah just thought I was tired because of school. After all, with finals coming up, I probably should have been.
Noah shrugged. "Sure," he said as we got to our door, tugging it open. The beige walls were just as welcoming as always. I followed behind him and went over to the window and pulled it open. A blast of cold air swept into the room.
"Why do you insist on doing that every winter?" Noah asked exasperatedly. I just smiled and sat down in the small loveseat we had in our dorm. I patted the cushion next to me and raised an eyebrow. Noah glared at me before grabbing a blanket from the ground and collapsing down next to me. I grabbed a corner and pulled it over me as well.
"See how much more comfortable this is with the window open?" I said triumphantly. "With the cold wind and stuff, it just feels so much warmer."
"That's an oxymoron," Noah said as he stood up.
"Where are you going?" I asked, the place where he had been already cooling next to me from a lack of body heat.
Noah titled his head at me in confusion. "The movie, remember? I have to put it in."
"Right," I said, and I could feel myself turning the tiniest bit red. Noah began to rummage around the drawer that we keep miscellaneous items in that don't have a place. Well, that's where he keeps them. My side of the room is a bit less organized and meticulous than his.
"Well, our collection still hasn't grown...so same options as always. You in the mood for Zootopia, School House Rock, or The Incredible Mr. Limpet?" he asked, flicking through the three DVD cases.
