Chapter 10

"Did you guys reach home?" I spoke seated on one of the chairs in Gavin's study.

"Nah. On our way, we'll be reaching in about an hour or so." Lorraine spoke lazily on the other end of the phone.

"Well, I best be on my way back to my brothers. Gavin won't appreciate me being here, he'll think I was snooping."

"Weren't you?" she asked.

"I was randomly shuffling through his work." 

"Stalker alert!" Drew yelled and laughed with Lorraine.

"Why are you up there anyways?" Drew asked.

"Well, my brothers would flip if they saw me walking down the stairs with my hunky-dory mate. So, I'm up here for a while to throw them off." I sighed.

"You do know that this is a stupid idea, right?" Lorraine teased.

"It wasn't as bad as your 'ignore him babe' idea." I sassed.

"Hey! No sassing my mate." Drew yelled playfully.

"Shut up Drew, I have to go. Adios b*tchachos!" I was just about to end the call when Lorraine spoke up. 

"Delilah wait- Just keep my kid well. This is the first time I am leaving him." she spoke softly.

"Lo, I will. We had a blood-oath before we left, remember?" I asked lightly touching the cut below my thumb.

"Yeah. I know. I'm his mum, I get a little over-protective at times."

I snorted "At times? Now, that's an understatement! You sat outside his nursery school for 6 months because you thought that something will happen to him!"

I could hear Drew chuckling in the background as Lorraine replied,"Yeah, well you'll understand one day when you have kids. Naw, you'll have adorable, chubby kids with Gav-"

"That's it! Buh-bye! Take care! I will protect my nephew with my life, I promise. Love ya. Bye!"

"Fine fine! Bye babe! Oh and remember the tips I gave you!" she said hurriedly referring to the 'how-to-make-him-crazy-for-you-tips' session she gave me earlier.

"Yeah yeah." I had just ended my call when someone nudged my mind making me instantly lower my mind-wall.

"Where on earth are you?"Daniel spoke harshly making me jump.

"Yeah, yeah. I am on my way down. Take a chill pill bro." 

"Chill pill? Are we in the 90's? Anyway, come on out here." Hereplied.

I fixed my clothes and patted my hair down. Just as I turned the knob of the door, my eyes fell on the little scar on my hand again. I had a really big responsibility on my shoulders now. The blood oath was not made out of fun, it had great power. It was an agreement between two wolves where they would make a small cut below their thumbs, the procedure was quite simple. You cover each others wounds by the palm of your hand and promise each other whatever the hell you want. In my case, it was to make sure Damon was safe and protected. 

Lorraine was all jittery when they were leaving. I made her take a blood oath with me, she was quite reluctant at first but I was finally able to convince her. I would protect Day with my life always, oath or no oath. I ran my finger on it once again and finally left the room. I knew the consequences if I wouldn't keep my end of the blood oath. I would die a slow,torturous death that would make me want to kill myself.
