Chapter 12

"Make sure you have everything ready Delilah. Did you keep the moisturizer?" Mom asked as she hurriedly walked past me and towards my bathroom. I sighed loudly feeling more drained as the minutes passed by.

The moment my parents knew that I was shifting in with Gavin, hell had broken lose. Derek and Daniel didn't want me to go, Dad was reluctant too but Mum was the worst.

She practically zoomed to my bedroom and began packing my bags, all the while teaching me little tricks that would wrap my mate around my fingers. All conversations were very awkward and not to mention, it reminded me of Lorraine and her "mate talks" . I regretted every second I was spending locked in the room with mommy dearest.

"Now, when he asks you for dinner or lunch then you offer to cook it, okay? And please chew your food thoroughly before you speak." She yelled from the bathroom again.

"But I don't know how to cook anything!" I mumbled and fell on my bed.

The huge suitcases laid out around me were proving to be an obstruction but I ignored them and spread myself like an eagle.

"I know! I should have started teaching you the basics as soon as you shifted. But please Delilah, act your age. Do not embarrass our Pack there." Mum pleaded to me as she walked out.

"I don't embarrass-whatever." I shut up almost instantly because of the look Mum was throwing my way.

"Damon will arrive at the Dark Mountain territory the day after tomorrow most probably. There are a few basic procedures left at his school and then he'll be good to go!" Mum squealed with happiness.

I stared at her as sadness consumed me whole. I promised to be there for Damon, even if that meant killing myself to protect him. If I would've been a little more persuasive then maybe they would be here with us right now.

"Honey, snap out of it. Lorraine and Drew are okay." Mum smiled gently. "I know they'll be." She mumbled the last part.

"Mum, can we talk to her?" Daniel knocked the door.

"Sure sweetie, just give me a moment." Mum smiled and kissed my fore-head and the proceeded to open the door of my bedroom.

Standing on my doorway were my two idiotic brothers. Daniel was smiling at me whereas Derek had his eyes down-cast. I tried to show that I was all calm and happy by grinning like a fool at the pair of them but I probably looked in pain from the idea of not staying in this pack anymore .Derek looked away from me, his expression was so unlike I had ever seen on his face, I missed his toothy grin. Daniel, however, tried to give me a small smile which looked more like a grimace.

They trudged inside slowly, both of them looking around my bedroom awkwardly and took a seat on my bed beside me.

"Uh, are you all packed?" Daniel questioned me as he stared at me packed suitcases.

"Yeah, a little here and there then I'll be done." I muttered in a low voice too, keeping my eyes on the floor and nervously playing with my fingers.

"Don't go." Derek spoke up suddenly.

I stared at Derek with sad eyes. This emotional cloud that surrounded us was very foreign, we were always comfortable in each other's presence but this time, being around them seemed strained.
