As Scott, Brittany, and the DoubleZero were driving back to Most Wanted’s base of operations, Brittany continued to question Scott on his actual job, and who he really was.

“So you work for the C.I.A.?!”

“Yes, I do.”

“How come you've never told me before?!”

“I didn’t want to risk giving my identity away, plus I barely knew you then. As far as I was concerned, I was just helping a stranger who turned out to be an undercover cop. An undercover cop who just now, according to what I’ve heard back there, happened to be a federal agent!”

“Oh, so this is my fault then? I wasn’t supposed to tell you either! What was I gonna do? Flag you down and say ‘Hi, My name is Brittany Knox, a federal agent in need of a lift. Could you please help me?’ I couldn’t do that. That would be absurd!”

“Ok, I get it. The point is, that we both have been hiding a lot from each other ever since we’ve met, and we need to get things cleared up. As a matter of fact, I’d like to introduce you to my boss. We’re just now pulling into our base of operations.”

“This old garage?”

“That’s its cover. Wait ‘til we get inside.”

Scott then drove into the garage. As soon as the doors closed behind him, another door opened to reveal a ramp leading downward into a tunnel. He then continued to drive into the tunnel until he came into a complex, with a turn-table built just for the DoubleZero. He then drove forward, parked onto the turn-table, and exited the vehicle.

“Behold, Most Wanted’s base of operations!”

“Wow, this place is amazing.”

A tall figure in a suit walked up to the couple and introduce himself to Brittany.

“Hello, my name is Jeremiah Silvers. I am head of Most Wanted, the C.I.A’s anti-street-racing division. Who might you be, miss?”

“I am Brittany Knox, detective for Rockport PD, and federal agent for the state of Colorado.”

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Knox.”

“Thank you, sir.”

She then turned toward Scott.

“So, any other reason why you’ve brought me here?”

Jeremiah then interrupted. “Yes, actually, as Mr. Cooper may have told you, I’ve discussed your job with Sergeant Cross. He thinks that it would be in your best interest to work here. He did tell you, didn’t he?”

Brittany once again turned to Scott.

“No.” she said “He hasn’t.”

“Well, I think you may find this job very enjoyable and interesting. Lots of field work to be involved in.”

“Got’cha. Hey, listen. Can I please head back to go pack my things?”

“Yeah sure. We do have dorms in this place. Why not? As soon as you get back, I’ll introduce you to the rest of the crew.”

“Ok, thank you. Come on, Scott. Let’s go.”

Scott and Brittany then returned to the DoubleZero, entered the vehicle, started the engine, and took off.

“Hey, what about my truck? Can we stop by the police station and pick it up?”

“Sure.”

They drove to the police station and parked in front of the main entrance.

“I’ll be right back with my Durango.”

Brittany then walked toward the police station and entered the building. As she was doing this, Scott then had a few words with the DoubleZero.

“I’ve got a feeling that this is going to be a beautiful partnership.”

“Are you saying this because Brittany is now working along-side us?”

“Yes, DZ. Yes I am.”

A black Durango then pulled out of the impound lot with Brittany in the driver’s seat. She then rolled down her passenger’s window and shouted as Scott.

“Ok, let’s go!”

She then took off toward her house with Scott following behind.

They soon reached the house.

“Ok, DZ. Pop the trunk. I’ve got a feeling that she’s gonna need more than one vehicle to carry her possessions.”

“You appear to ‘have a feeling’ for everything, don’t you?”

“You’ve got it.”

Scott then got out, and walked toward Brittany’s house to help her with her things.

After a couple hours, she then closed up the back door to her Durango, and turned to Scott.

“Alright, that should be everything. Let’s go.”

The two got into their vehecles, backed out of the driveway, and returned to headquarters.

As soon as they returned and parked their vehicles, Jeremiah then led Brittany to her dorm to show her around. He then returned shortly after and had a chat with Scott.

“Hey, about those guys. Why did they kidnap her?"

"Apparently they wanted DZ's CPU."

"Most likely, they wanted it because they wanted to bring back KRONOS, the DoubleZero's prototype. We had to shut it down because it had killed 7 people during testing. Six months later, we had found you, left for dead, brought you to the Silvers' mansion, and pretty much gave you a new life. At that point, we had finished developing the DoubleZero, and it needed a driver. It turned out, with your record as a police officer, you were the right man for the job."

"I see."

"By the way, has she figured out who you really are?"

“Yes, except for who I originally was. As far as she’s concerned, Scott Burns is dead.”

“Good, make sure she doesn’t find out.” Scott then walked around back behind the DoubleZero, and opened the trunk. Brittany then walked back towards the car and started unloading her things. As she was doing this, a picture frame fell out and hit the ground. It showed a photo of her and a handsome-looking fellow.

“Who’s that?”

“More like ‘who was that?’ He was my boyfriend, Scott Burns.”

Scott then examined the photo closely. He then realized that he was looking at a reflection of his past, when he and Brittany were dating. He then thought:

“If only she knew who I really was.”

The two then carried all of Brittany’s possessions into her dorm. Scott then returned shortly afterward. He walked over to Jeremiah and told him:

“I’m giving her some time to get settled in.”

“She’s got a lot of possessions, doesn’t she?”

“Yep.”

He then looked at Jeremiah in the face.

“I saw a picture of her and my original self. Are you sure she shouldn’t know about my past?”

“I think it would be best if she found out for herself. I don’t want her to be heartbroken when she just got a new job working with you. Plus, she’s had a long day.”

“I see. Well, changing topics, here. At least we won’t have to worry about those jerks who kidnapped her. They’ll probably be doing at least 10 years for this.”

“Well, just try and help her get over this whole thing, and just be a good partner for her.”

“Yes sir.”

Scott then walked toward Brittany’s dorm, and left the DoubleZero to sit at its parking spot.
