'OH EM GEE, HOW DID I NOT CLICK THAT LAURA MORRIS INITIALS: LM, OWNED LM FASHIONS!!!!!'

"Oh my gosh Laura I don't know how I didn't put two and two together, your work is inspiring to me!" I told Laura in awe.

"Oh thank you darling but enough praise lets get dessert ready." "David would you be so kind as to help me in the kitchen" she said aimed at my dad.

"Ah yes of course Laura" my dad said smiling at her.

After they walked out Dean spoke,"so .. wanna be friends?" A look of anticipation and hope in his eyes.

'Wait what the hot new boy wants to be friends with me?' I was stunned 'Katy Marcus and Dean Morris, friends?'

"Katy?"

'Damn did I blank again'

"Yeah?"

"Did you hear me?"

"Oh sorry, yes I will be your friend"I said grinning like a Cheshire Cat, and I even thought I could see a slight grin on his flawless face.

"Cool"

"Cool"

After a few awkward moments of silence Dean held his glass up to me, "To new friendships"

"To new friendships" I said, still beaming from ear to ear.

'My mum would have been proud of me....'

"Katy?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine thanks" I obviously wasn't fine but oh well, I just have to stop thinking about my mum, it hurts too much.

"Well your not, I'm not too dumb to know that when a girl says their fine, they are obviously not." He said in a kind of 'duh' tone, "So come on, what's wrong?" He looked a bit worried, I found this sweet, a guy had never been worried about me before.

"Promise you won't tell..?"

"I promise"

*sigh* 'Here goes nothing'

"Well as you know I only live with my dad" he nods in agreement, "we moved here to get away from our past" he continues to nod, "my mum she errmm..."

"It's fine you don't have to tell me everything now, I'm sure you will open up more with time"

I nodded silently "Thanks Dean"

"No problem Kates" he said with a dazzling  grin on his face.

"Kates?"

"Yeah that's your new nickname" he said to me still grinning

'Huh a nickname that isn't "Pumpkin", cool'

"I like it" I said smiling at him.

"Good 'cause I wasn't gonna change it if you didn't" he told me while sticking his tongue out like a child.

'Wow he is such a child' I thought laughing to myself, 'But I'm no worse'

A few minutes later our parents came back into the dining room bearing a massive sticky toffee pudding.
