Chapter One

"Good morning sweetie," I hear a woman's voice call out to me. "You don't want to be late, now do you?"

I sigh and sit up to see my mother pulling back my new curtains. I chose black curtains to keep the sun out, not in.

The sun light shines in, and my mother starts to hum. "Mom" I say flatly, "What are you doing?"

"Just doing what all mothers do, I'm getting my child up and out of bed for school" She says with a huge smile.

I groan, not more of the, 'I want to be a better mother' crap.

"Mother, its fine, alright, dad always just turned my light on, and taped my shoulder," and not the whole parently act, I finish silently in my head.

"Well don't blame me for trying to do a good act, now get up and get ready, I'll drive you to the school around eight, so hurry and get ready so you can eat breakfast."

My mom walks out, and shuts the door behind her. At least she knows how to shut the door.

I start to get up, when I notice something out my window. At first it looks just like a small figure. But a better look makes me nauseous. I turn around, and run to the bathroom slaming the door.

It seems like he is everywhere. And I just can't get away from him.

I hop in the shower and hope that the water will help me clear my mind.

After what seems like an hour of standing in the warm water I reluctantly step out, and shiver at the cold air that seems to rap around my body.

I rap the towel around me and- oh no.

I forgot to close my curtains.

I open the bathroom door while my eyes linger to the window. I don't see anything, but I am still far away. Plus, I'm on the second floor, so there might be someone out there. I sigh. You never know until you try.

I quickly run to my window, and close my curtains as quickly as I can. I don't dare to stare out, and see what I fear to see.

When I safely am standing in the darkness, I walk to my closet.

A oversized tee and leggings?

No.

Sweats?

No.

I let my eyes search over the newly organized closet, and try to find the perfect outfit.

Perfect.

My eyes land on a green sundress. Not too fancy, and not to casual.

I hurry up and pull the dress on, and grab my sandals. I walk back to the bathroom and decide what to do with my hair.

I pull it back into a messy bun. But that looks too, how do I put this, a little to less for the outfit.

I quickly brush my hair out and stare at my reflection. My blonde-brownish hair set around my face. My green eyes looked yellow in the lighting. I pinch my cheeks, which brings a pinkish tint to the paleness of my skin.

I sigh, Why couldn't I be pretty? I finally settle on a fish-tail braid and a headband.

I brush my teeth and do a one-over in the mirror. I look good, and a plus is the dress makes me a little bit tanner.

"Skylnn," I hear my mother call my name, "Get down here, there is some people here, I want you to meet."

Why would she want me to meet someone? Who does she even know from here? She has never been to Georgia has she?
