I woke up once again in a strange place. Why does this seem to keep happening to me? I slowly open my eyes to see-wait, what? I look around the familiar room, with it's teal walls to the bright pink desk. I am sitting on the twin bed I grew up in, its pink polka dot sheets remind me of another time. Once upon a time I used to live here, in this small trailer park with my mother. After my dad left us we lost the house, almost the car. But we had a home, here in this tiny trailer. I wipe my eyes and sat up. Going from New York to North Carolina must have taken a long time. How long was I out?
I heard a light knock and then the door opened. A fluffball ran out and jumped on my bed; it saturated my face with kisses. I looked up to see my sweet little collie Honey, I hugged my dog really tight and patted her head. I looked up at the person standing in the doorway.
"Hey, Princess. Im really glad your ok." He smiled that smile at me.His green irisis were filled with relif. My mind quickly flashed through the events of yesterday before I blocked them out.
"I'm ok, I'm a big girl River." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Yeah, I know. I just worry." He sat at the end of the bed and studied me. "So, uh, you might've noticed you're not at home." I gave him a 'duh' look but he continued. "We thought River might not expect you to be here when he comes looking. Brook suggested bringing your dog, she went to a safe house a few states away. The police have to come and talk to you now. You ok?"
I nodded and took in what he just told me. I played with my fingers as he opened the door and motioned for the police to come in. Honey was at my feet sleeping and River - surprisingly - sat on my right side and grabbed my hand. I gave him a curious look and he returned me with a smile. We sat there as the two cops came in, if you could call them that. The two 'cops' were actually five people on an FBI team trained to track running phsychopaths.
"Hi, I'm Eliza." The first one introduced them all. There were 2 women including her, a dark haired hazel eyed fit agent, and Agent Kayleigh, a young aisian woman with long hair up in a ponytail. The three men were introduced. Two had the usual brown hair brown eyes and muscles. The other one had blonde hair and blue eyes with wrinkles around them, he still had muscles but looked old and wise. He was introduced as Agent Gray.
"Ella, we need ot know all the events of your time at Ariana's house. Anything know, not what you would tell the regular police like height and times, like any weird things he said or did."
"All of it?" My voice cracks and River's warm hand clutches mine a bit harder.
I recount the events and conversations of yesterday wit ha remorseful look on my face. River starts to look pretty angry. When I finish I put my head down and sob. Agent Kayleigh, I think, comes up and rubs my back. River rubs his thumb slowly across my hand, send tingles up my arm.
"So, he said all those things?" The lead woman asks. I just nod.
"Please tell me you can find him." I look up at them with tears still falling from my eyes. The two men and woman look at me in pity. Agent Gray is scribbling something down on his notepad.
"We'll do our best. It is our job." Agent Gray looks up.
"Is, um Ariana, ok?" I turn to Agent Kayleigh sitting next to me.
"She went to a safe house with some doctors. She was in worse condition than you so we don't know." She keeps rubbing my back and gives me a sad look.
I look over at River again and in that serious moment my stomach growls. River looks up at me and chuckles. I just shrug, "I'm hungry."
The officers file out into our hallway, River and I going out last. My feet go there on their own, knowing the way pretty well. We get in the kitchen and I hop up on the counter while River looks in the fridge. I stare at his butt for a few seconds before averting my eyes to anything out; can't blame me, he is hot. He places some stuff for sandwhiches on the counter next to me and everytime he turns I sneak a peice of sandwhich meat. By the time he gets the second sandwhich he just looks up at me and smiles. I give him a guilty smile in return and he just chuckles. He finishes and I don't even say thank you before devouring the sandwhich.
"Thank you for the sandwhich!" I say to him after fnishing. I yawn and cover my mouth, "Sorry, I'm kinda tired."
"Just go to bed, you probably will be for a little bit. Adrenilines a bitch when you get to much of it." He tells. I agree and walk back to my room. On my way through the living room I stop in front of a whiteboard the officers have been working on. The title at the top grabs my full attention.
"MISSION PRINCE NOT SO CHARMING"
