The epitome of success, Ambrosius Sidorov had it all.
Money, though didn't need it.
Power, though it bored him.
A lavish penthouse in downtown Chicago.
And the most powerful Throne.
That is, up until the fateful night when his siblings were murdered...

Charlotte and Mark sat quietly in the cognac colored sofa, awaiting to be given further instructions on what to do next. There was an awkwardness between them and Charlotte knew it.
She had toyed with Mark's feelings several years ago; manipulated him into thinking that she was in love with him. In the end when the goal was achieved and the mission was accomplished, she vanished without a trace. Leaving the poor Mark to pick up the pieces of what was left.
To her it was all simply business; clinical and precise. To him it was the real deal. And now they were here, next to each other once again, at the top of the architectural world.
Literally.
The raw emotions and trauma that Mark felt were coming back to him. This job was supposed to be the perfect opportunity for him to completely erase the brunette beauty from his mind.
He did not count on her becoming his co-worker.
And now he was stuck with her for as long as the contract stated by his master's. He was at their mercy and disposal, though he had not heard anything about them until two days ago.
Mark had always believed there was some secret organization running the world.
The Illuminati, the Freemasons, even the Bilderbergs.
Never in his lifetime had he heard the Sidorov name associated with anything pertaining to ruling the world. It came as quite a shock to him when he found out that they were Russian. To think that these people owned everything was next to impossible for him to wrap his head around.
The imposingly immense height of their skyscraper alone was enough of a warning sign that these people meant business. Working for them had never been on his agenda. And yet here he was.
"Mark?" Charlotte calls gently despite the silence, trying to get the Estonian's attention. Initially she assumes she's failed since his face does not react. It doesn't matter. She can understand the flurry of emotions that must be going through his mind.
At least she could try to, given that she has never processed emotions like normal people do. The one edge she possessed that put her ahead of others in her line of work was her ability to mercilessly manipulate people.
Using their emotions against them.
She was an expert and with her fluency in Russian, French and German, she was probably the best agent MI6 had. With her high kill count, she was their deadliest. Most likely part of the reason for which the Sidorov's hired her to protect their only remaining son.
"Yes Charlotte?" Mark utters almost absent minded, breaking the silence and throwing Miss Brown off slightly, though she concealed that fact successfully.
