I listened to the mixed words of the people talking all around me and I made my way through the hallway, my eyes nervously darting my side to side.
I swiftly made my way into my classroom and headed toward my normal seat in the back.
I wasn't the hand raising type, and wanted to avoid getting called on at all costs.
I slumped down into my seat, setting my stuff down on my desk. Well, it was more of a slam, actually. But no one seemed to even notice.
I pulled a pencil out from behind my ear a opened up my binder, listening to the sound of the pages as I flipped through them.
Soon I came to the conclusion that I was out of paper, and was forced to ask one of my class mates for a piece.
I built up the courage and tapped the girl's shoulder sitting in front of me. She turned around, a cold look on her face, and lifted an eyebrow questioningly, silently asking me what I wanted.
My insecurity level rose as I choked out my question.
"Um, could I borrow a, uh, sheet of paper, please?" I ask nervously, eyes looking toward the ground, as I frantically move a piece of auburn hair away from blocking my vision.
She rolled her eyes, turning around. At first I thought she just dismissed my request, until I heard paper being torn out of her notebook, and she turned around once more, shoving it into my hands, wrinkling it a bit.
"Here." she mumbled, and returned to her conversation.
"Thanks." I whispered, almost silently, as I smoothed it out on my desk.
I was too busy scribbling out today's lesson which was written on the chalkboard, but was blurry, making me realize that I had forgotten my glasses on the kitchen table, that I didn't notice him walk in.
He was obviously new.
His long ebony hair was about shoulder length, slightly covering his forehead, leaving the rest of his face in clear view, but still giving him that mysterious look, like he wasn't going to let you in. Like he was going to leave you with your questions, not answering them, eventually driving you insane.
His eyes. They were a deep mahogany color, rimmed by a thick line of black eyeliner, which he would, no doubt, get teased about. They shimmered even in the dull light of the classroom as he looked my way, but glancing in a different direction just as quickly.
He stood about 6 feet in height, towering over most guys in our class at the time.
He had an A Day To Remember band tee shirt on, that hugged his muscular arms and torso. His long legs were covered by fairly tight jeans.
While I continued to study his appearance, I noticed how unorganized the boy was, with many papers sticking out of his binder, as he fumbled to get them in line.
He stood there awkwardly, as if confused on where to sit. Finally the teacher noticed him.
"Ahh, you must be Mr. Ronald Radke. Please take a seat where ever you like." she exclaimed, pretending to be happy to see him, however I wouldn't be surprised if she were silently complaining to herself about having another student to look after.
He took a seat about two down from mine, still obviously stressing over his mess of supplies.
The sound of our teacher talking, quickly made me shoot my head up, in order to pay attention.
"Today, we'll doing partner work. Don't move because I have them sorted out already." she exclaimed a wicked smile on her face, knowing fully well this would upset us.
There were many dramatic groans coming from my peers as she started reading off pairs. She had gotten through most of the class, and I was starting to get worried that she may have forgotten to add me to the list. That's when she looked at me.
"Destiny? I was wondering if you could pair up with Mr. Radke? Help him out on his first day?"
I nodded as a pit in my stomach grew larger. I took a side ways glance at him, and slowly picked up my stuff, walking over to the desk parallel to his. I took my seat, and hesitantly introduced myself.
"H-hello. I'm Destiny. Ronald, is it?" I asked, knowing his name fully well, but trying to look less interested in him then I really was.
"Ronnie. Call me Ronnie." he said.
