Phoenix

It was dark and I was exhausted 

"come on not that far now" river said excitedly "river we've walked like 20 miles, this is way to far" I said with breathes between my words

"haha we have only walked 9 miles riley its not that long of a walk" river stated "its not that long of a walk" I imitated him "well where I come from people very rarely walk every where they just drive or get driven" I said sadly realising how much nicer it would be if the future was like this

"hey where do you come from" he questioned "uhm... hey is that your house" I said pointing to a dim light while trying to avoid discussion "yeah" he smiled.

we ran towards the 'bottom' household or at least attempted to as all my luggage was slowing us down we didn't get to far running as the excitement died down almost instantly due to or slow pace so we just walked the rest of the until we finally reached the front door step.

"ew" rain greeted river and I couldn't help but laugh the she bent over to the side to get a glimpse of me with a surprised look on her face "riv you have friends!" she said in a sarcastic tone "more than you" he replied I stood there awkwardly as river and rain roasted each other and then another presence entered the room as everything went quiet.

"and who is this river"hearts sweet voice filled the room as "uh this is uhm" river stuttered trying to play it off in front of his mum and then I stood forward interrupting him "Riley" I said proudly "I was wondering if she could stay here for a while she has no where else to go" river stood forward "of coarse" Heart smiled "river she can bunk with you or rain you guys can decide" i looked at both of them embarrassed as they both continued their fight "dinner!" heart shouted.

"I'm sorry darling I don't have any meat " heart said as she put my plate down "oh no its fine I"m a vegan so I don't eat it" I said looking up to her that's when I noticed the large smile across her face "so am I in fact so is everyone in this house" she admired walking over to rains plate.

as everyone was eating river spoke up "so riley has this pendant around her neck and i think its quite special actually" pointed at the small charm on my neck and then everyone else joined him "what is it" rain said amazed "uhm" I stuttered "just tell them what you told me" river spoke up "well it's a phoenix" I said "so whats so special about it" Joaquin interrupted "well" I said looking at everyone " a phoenix burns into a pile of dust at death only to rise from it's ashes to start a new cycle of life" I said "It is actually the symbol for a new start" I added heart looked at me amazed "mum I had an amazing idea when i heard it" river jumped with excitement "me too" she spoke softly river looked at heart and i couldn't help but feel that their ideas were identical "we will go into town tomorrow to do so" she looked at river just then he smiled "okay" he whispered.

"rock, paper, scissors" rain and river competed in sync "I win" river threw his fist in the air "best out of 10" rain whined "no rain 5 rounds is enough" river smiled "fine have fun in rivers grotty room "she smiled at me "you shouldn't feel bad just tell him you don't want to sleep in his room 'you have no idea how badly I want to sleep in his room' I thought to myself "I don't mind he did win after all" I said "yeah" river teased.

"done" river said exhausted i looked down at the two nests on the floor river had built for me and him "wow" I said "you went all out" I laughed as i looked around the room "yeah" he smiled "this is gonna be so much fun" he said as he pulled a lever on the roof just then a about half the wood panels fell down from the roof revealing the stary sky.

"wow" I spoke as i sat down on the nest not taking my eyes of the sky I could see out the corner of my eye that river copied my exact movement 'I still can't believe that river Phoenix is actually talking to me and I'm staying at his house... I'm so lucky' I thought "thanks uncle" I whispered "who" river hummed "oh it doesn't matter, what is your idea that you and your mum were talking about you know the one about you guys going into town" I quickly said avoiding river's first question "you'll see" he smiled to himself and so did I looking back up to the stars as my eyes slowly slid shut.

a coldness spread across my face as I felt my forehead crinkle and then I opened my eyes. Rain, it was raining I laughed as river desperately tried to close the roof even though we were already soaked I stood up and tried to help but it wouldn't I watched as river shook it frustrating to get it close I admired the small droplets rolling down his face and then he turned to me with a frown we just stood and stared at each other but the humour over came us and we broke out laughing river jumped down and tackled me and started tickling at my ribs i just laughed and tried my best to escape, eventually he rolled over and i got up and started to skip around he stood up and copied me "why are we jumping" he laughed "i'm not jumping I'm skipping" I replied with a smirk "well..." river was interrupted by a loud yell "RIVERRRR" I heard a masculine voice echo through the house "uh oh" I watched river as he hung his head down "yeah" he spoke somewhat loudly "GO TO BED" the voice yelled "okay" river yelled back he turned and looked at me with a certain look on his face I just smiled and ran under cover after awhile I felt his presence behind me "what are we gonna do about that" I whispered pointing to the roof river let out a huge huff which hit the back of my neck leaving goosebumps all over my body.

I watched as river went over and sat on a big cushion he patted the side of it signalling for me to sit down, I went over and felt the drowsiness take over my body "night river" I hummed "good night riley" he replied adjusting his position so he was more comfortable.

"prepare yourself for the wonders tomorrow will bring" he whispered placing his hand on top of my head massaging my hair sending me into a deep sleep.
