We all met up underneath the tree, talking to one another for a short while as we waited for the buses to arrive to take us away.
It was obvious hearing the big yellow vehicles coming down the road, it was usually silent of traffic around here also the busses had a much louder sound that emitted from them than normal cars. All the students stopped their conversations to watch the busses drive down the road, through the gates, and into the driveway.
There were 5 busses in all, we where to be divided my disorder on which bus to ride on. I groaned, knowing that I would most likely have to sit with a stranger or a teacher.
My friends would be put on different busses for sure! How was I supposed to stay calm, only six people let me feel that way, and if I weren't with them my skull would pound with hideous thoughts. Well, hideous to the world, but not me.
I giggled remembering multiple dreams I've had, all to do with the death of either Ms. Garrel or Jason.
I felt a hand on my shoulder that snapped me out of my memories. I turned to see Harry with a gentle smile, on his lips, yet his brow looked worried and concerned. I cocked my head at him, wondering why he had such an expression.
He pointed behind me suddenly, towards the busses. I noticed that the door were open and students were being sorted. The nervous, the unique, the advanced, and the insane. Each group was a general type for the disorders.
There were quite a lot in the nervous category, people with strong cases of social anxiety, like Ash would go there. As well as the scared, traumatized ones, like Ella. There were others with that group as well, but I didn't care much about their specifics. The unique is a category Sophia would fit in, with her abilities. Raven would also go here, but for her own.. reasons. The advanced were people like Damon and Alfred would go. They had intellect in an extraordinary way, but it was difficult to understand when they tried to explain, yet I still loved their fascinations anyway. Then there was the insane, where I would fit in. Oh! Harry is considered this category too, I almost forgot! I won't be alone after all!
I sighed in relief and walked over to the mass of student who were yet to be sorted with Harry by my side.
"We're definitely sitting next to each other, there's no way I'd be able to handle anyone else." I said to Harry as we were coming up to the front of the student glob to be put into our category. Harry nodded his head in agreement, smiling in a playful way.
A teacher I didn't recognize pointed to me and said in a loud voice, "You, you're going to bus number 10." I looked to Harry then back at the teacher.
"Hey," I called back to him, he turned back to face me.
"What do you need?"
"What about Harry?" I said pointing at my friend standing next to me.
The teacher looked down at the clipboard he was holding.
"Full name?" He asked Harry without looking up. Harry hesitated, not wanting to speak for fear the voices would wake if he did. So, I answered for him.
"Harry Marres" His name rolled off my tongue, the words repeated themselves over and over in my head. I was confused on why it did so, but I shook it out and listened to Mr. Stranger teacher's answer.
"Let's see if he's on my list.." He said as he trailed his pen down the paper on his clipboard, stopping near the middle of it. "Ah, yes. Harry, you'll also be going to bus ten, carry on now, we don't have forever." He waved us off towards the bus.
Harry and I walked over to the bus doors, walking up the three steps and down the aisle. I took the window seat and Harry slid in beside me.
This bus was eerily quiet, with only hushed whispers here and there. I looked over to the seat across from us to see only one student. It was boy with light brown hair, his frame pathetically small and scrawny. His eyes were opened wide, he saw something, I could tell, but what? I stared at him curiously, wondering what could going on in his withered mind.
Harry noticed my intent focused and followed my gaze, coming upon the scrawny boy. He looked back at me and cocked his head, mimicking my habit to ask me why I was so intrigued in this student I have never seen before.
"He's interesting don't you think?" I asked Harry, breaking my gaze on the stranger and instead turning my attention to him. "I wonder what's in his mind, and what does he see?" I glanced at the boy again, but then back to Harry.
Harry shook his head with a small smile. Laughing slightly at my interest in another's disorder, my own being that of a curse to me, yet I still was fascinated by these sicknesses.
The bus rumbled as the driver started up the engine. I heard the other busses around also start, an obvious sign that we were to leave for the trip now.
The driver called out to us all saying that the trip will take about two hours or so to get there.
I sighed at how long it was going to be to travel. I heard Harry's faint sigh next to me, obviously thinking the same.
Harry and I communicated with gestures and my words for the first half hour, but I soon grew tired of that and decided to sleep for the ride there.
I looked around trying to spot an area to place my head to rest. Harry noticed me looking and testing out places and tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. As I looked up at him he patted his own shoulder, offering it as a pillow. I didn't expect him to do that, but I doubt any other place would be more comfortable. I hesitantly leaned my head onto his shoulder, whispering a slight "Thank you." And to my utter despair, felt pink tint my cheeks.
What was wrong with me today?! First Damon and now Harry! What was my mind doing to me?
As I closed my eyes I tried to sort out why in the world my emotions were like this but I soon drifted off to sleep.
