As soon as I walk into class I notice Tyler sitting with his head buried in his notebook, his slender fingers delicately holding his red pen. He painted his nails a silky ebony since our last class together. I have to admit, it's super flattering.
I walk to my seat next to Tyler and he looks up at me as I near. His eyes light up and a smile spreads across that sweet face of his.
"Hi Josh!" He says, his tenor voice holding the slightest rasp. The way he says my name stirs something in my chest.
"Hey T!" I reply, flashing him a toothy grin.
"I really like your hair!" He says.
Under my breath I mutter "thought you would," slightly satisfied with myself. Apparently I was not quiet enough because he cocks his head to the side with a soft "hm?" As if he didn't quite catch what I just said.
"I uh.. said it DOES look good!" I say smoothly, used to covering for myself at home. I'm a commonly snarky individual after all.
"Ah ok!" He says, turning back to his notebook as the teacher begins the lecture.
