Chapter 2: The Choosing

"Coral come down for breakfast" I hear my mom say, "Caden is already to go to the choosing," I'm very surprised by that because the choosing is more like who is going to die. I turn pale at the thought of my brother dead. I thoughtlessly wander down the stairs and saw my mom complaining about my brother's clothes and saying he needed to wear something more "plain." I walked to get the cereal totally ignoring my mom's complaining. After breakfast, we got on our bikes and headed towards the choosing building. My brother sped ahead of me, I could feel my long braided hair thumping against my back. Strands of my golden brown hair in my face. We finally get to the choosing building, I went with all the twelve year old girls into the main court, my brother went with all his ten year old friends. I see Mrs. Tuff walk onto the stage, "welcome boys and girls to our annual death tribe choosing," she announces, "that women gives me the creeps!" I whisper to my friend Tiffany next to me, she acknowledged me with a nod. "ladies first" yells Mrs. Tuff she puts her hand in the bowl and pulls out a slip "...
