Three days had passed, though to Sophie and Fitz, the time seemed endless. They racked their minds for any way that they could possibly break down the door, but the cell remained secure.
"Ugh! We're never going to get out of here," Sophie moaned, as their latest attempt failed.
"Hey, don't lose hope, Sophie," Fitz said. "There must be some way out."
He had said that so many times, Sophie had lost count.
Fitz kicked the rock wall in frustration. "We'll find it ... eventually. Wait a minute ... is there any way a brain push would work? Or something with energy? I feel like one of my Mentors mentioned the subject, but I can't recall what."
Sophie thought.
And considered.
And deliberated.
"It could work," she decided. "Let's try it. Enter my mind, and we can pool our energy."
When Fitz said he was there, Sophie concentrated on the oasis of energy in the back of her brain. Ready? She asked.
Not really. But we can only try.
All right. One ... two ... three!
