Starlight

As starlight shines down upon my head,

I take in the beauty of the world around me.

First the moon, and then the stars,

and slowly the Earth consumes me.

I fall into an everlasting sleep,

yet I wake within seconds in the ocean deep.

The fish swim 'round me circling my head

and I find that somehow I'm able to breathe.

I float forever through the sea

unaware of where I am or what all this means.

Slowly I wash onto the sand

of an island decaying from time and tragedy.

My eyes watch as the world burns

The buildings collapse and I am sure

This will be the end for me

The story of my life is over it seems

I lay my head back down again

Too afraid to watch what will happen next

But as I rest my head I could see

All of this was just a dream

I lift my head towards the light

A new shining world rises high

But my thoughts lead me to one last thing

Is this real, or just a dream?
