Today was a long day. Sometimes I think that if it wasn't for me wanting to become a doctor, I would just drop out. I need the money though, but when I get to college I don't want to be in debt.
Grabbing my keys from my backpack, I place the key in the key hole, and twist it open.
Once I walk into the house, I hear slight movement. Ignoring it just long enough for me to close and lock the door back, I turn around to see my father aiming a gun at me.
Shocked, scared, and unknowing to what to do in this situation I freeze. It's as if in this moment, Ican't breathe. I cannot speak, or scream out for help. I stand awkwardly in the same position I was in once I locked myself in.
"Dad? It's me... Katelyn..."
"I don't know a Katelyn! Who are you, you son of a bitch?! And how did you get in here?"
"I'm your only child... Katelyn.. I have a key because I live here with you..."
"I don't have a daughter."
As those words escape his lips, I feel the instant pain capture my heart.
No one can understand being disclaimed. It's the hardest thing to ever deal with, especially when it comes from family. He never meant to hurt me, but he did.
"Fine. Just shoot me. I'm dead to you anyways. You'll never remember!"

*...Back to a time of sweet memories...*
"You... Me? Biiiiikkkeee!!!"
"Yeah, Christopher! I bought you a real bike! Do you like it? Do you know how to ride?"
He nods his head bashfully.
"You ride?"
"I know how to ride it, Chrissy." (🙄)
"Okay, but come on so I can take some pictures..... Look over here!"
"Hmm?"
