I woke to the loudspeaker alarm. It was how everyone woke up in the morning, including me. I nudged Marcus's arm off of me as he slowly came to awareness. We got up and he waved goodbye before climbing out my window and leaving, probably to his own housing.

With a sigh, I muttered to myself,"Time for a visit to my past," and got dressed in dark jeans, a red tank top, and my fashionable leather vest with motorcycle boots. I brushed my hair and left it as it was. I looked in the mirror and nodded.

I looked bad-@ss!

I shoved my door open and gave Tom a wicked grin as I passed him, exiting the dorm. I walked straight to the HQ main building and up to Martha, the secretary. Clearing my throat, I demanded,"I need to talk to the vampire I was supposed to question yesterday."

Martha nodded with a knowing grin and pointed toward the right hallway of jail cells. Yes, there are multiple hallways of jail cells. Got a problem with that? No, I didn't think so.

Moving on. I stalked my way down the hall, checking every cell with the keys clutched in my hand. I found him in the last cell of the hallway, of course. He was sitting on the wooden chair so generously provided by the PFP, and his back was facing the door.

"Daniel," I commanded, making him jump. When he didn't move otherwise, I demanded,"Turn around and look at me, Danny." Slowly, he turned, and I saw the disbelieving expression on his face when he saw me.

"Lacey?" Daniel begged,"What am I doing here? Where is here? Why did you come?"

I didn't answer his questions as I rifled through the keys, finding the right one and opening the door as Daniel's face filled with hope. It disappeared when I stepped inside and locked the door behind me. That was when I let my feelings of anger and betrayal take over my expression. Danny saw this and his eyes widened.

"You're here because you're a vampire. This is the local Pennies For Peace HQ. The PFP is a demon hunting organization. And I came to-" I choked suddenly on my words, and I had to force them out,"I came to talk to you, Daniel."

He flinched at the venom in my voice as I spat out his name. He looked at me, confused, and asked,"What's wrong, Lacey?"

"You!" I snapped,"You, Daniel! That's what's wrong! You're a vampire! In case you didn't notice, I kill your kind! And I like it! I hate vampires, and now I find out that my disappeared ex-boyfriend is one! What the hell am I supposed make of that, Danny?" By now I was seeing red, and my dagger had made its way into my hand. Daniel backed away into the corner of his cell and I was just about to finish this whole ordeal when there was a shout from the hall.

"Lace!" Marcus called,"Don't! He hasn't given any info!" That stopped me in my tracks and drove me to walk out of the cell to Marcus, locking it behind me. The Council would be supremely pissed if I killed him before we got his info. He was supposedly part of a major vampire coven that was causing some major trouble by teaming up with a nearby werewolf pack.

I stalked up to Marcus and whispered velvetly,"If you plan to interrupt my methods of interrogation, you can find me new ones." And I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down for a heated kiss that was only mostly for our benefit. A plus to kissing Marcus at that moment was that seeing Daniel's wounded expression eased my ragged ferocity.

When we finally stopped kissing, Marcus wrapped an arm around my waist and led me out of the building, getting me up to speed on a mission against a werewolf pack a couple hours away. I was relieved for the distraction and glad for a chance to be violent. It had been a while since I killed something.
