The car ride was as usual, noisy and full of arguments, mainly from Demetrius and me. My mother stopped the car so Reina and I could switch front and back seats. Switching had to happen because Dimka and I get physical, and when we become physical, we went all out WWE.

We reached the pack hall in time and stood by the car to marvel at the pack's work on the hall. Now, I use the term 'hall', loosely. It is basically a little larger than the Madison Square Gardens. It was renovated to be that large because there were three packs, excluding ours, coming and packs this side of the world had a minimum of five thousand people of age and another two thousand too young. Well, that is what the newspaper's statistics stated.

Once we finished behaving like fourteen-year-olds seeing their crush, we went inside only to reenact our behaviour outside. I nearly dropped my clutch. The pack had outdone themselves. I heard that they become better and better with decorations and set-up each year, and I had to say that it was absolutely beautiful.

"Whoa!" Reina said, voicing all of our amazement. I turned to look at my mother who seemed unfazed by all this, I was betting that she had likely seen better than this. After all, she was close to being six hundred years old. She was that old but had not lived all her years.

"Let's get seated now," our mother spoke up, "I don't think that you'll enjoy your evening standing for the rest of it. I reserved a table for us close to the dance floor. Hope you don't mind the position."

We weaved our way through the sea of tables and the few people here. As we journeyed closer to the middle, I noticed that there were smaller rooms on the sides. My theory was that they were bathrooms or rooms for the Alpha and Luna's of the fellow packs. Gammas and Deltas sat outside the rooms since they were the lead protectors, warriors, and war strategists of the pack. The Betas sat around or in the centre of everything. The fighters defend the outskirts while the leaders calm the middle so the rest do not revolt in a similar manner. We had that procedure in case of a fire of an attack from the Maledicti, a group of hunters. The latter was more likely.

Once we were close enough to see our table, my eyes widened when I saw how close we were going to be to the Beta's table. We were literally right behind our pack Beta's table. I do not venture out my house much, but when I do gossip surrounds me. From the gossip around me, I picked up that Rhydian Brine, our Beta, was quite the looker. He was apparently skilled in the ladies department too, but I was not so sure I could trust women who whispered so loudly and disrespectfully about their leader. I had the night to find out anyway.

I stepped away from my family and wondered a little. I stepped onto the dance floor and began dancing to my imaginary music slowly, having my main character moment before the dancefloor got too full. I heard the music start and I turned to look at a room with a glass front, the DJ grinning at me. I grinned back at him and continued to dance until I went back to my original mission of strolling around.

I stepped off the dance floor and went to search for the small rooms lining the hall. While I was walking there, I noticed that most tables were reserved and had the arranger's name on a little tag on the candle piece. There was a lot for public usage that had no tags on them.

I reached the first room and it had a small tag on it. Alpha and Luna Mwana, Leaders of the Crescent Moon pack. The next was actually a bathroom that had three stalls and two basins. The door had a tag that read, Alpha and Luna Stevenson, Leaders of the New Moon pack. The last pack name shocked me. The Blood Moon pack, Alpha and Luna Ingane. They were a ruthless pair and they scared me shitless, and it looks a lot to scare me that bad.

I bristled when I smelt someone approaching. Their scent was a werewolf, the smell of the air after the aroma of petrichor, but had a sweet citrusy fragrance added to it. I turned and sure enough, as my terrible luck would have it, the Luna of the Blood Moon pack headed towards me, or more likely for her room.
