I've always wanted to be a part of the stars after a certain day, and this was as close as I'd ever been as I was reaching for the stars as I sat on my bed.

I sighed and stood up from my sitting position, various thoughts floating and rushing through my head all at once. I needed to get ready for my pack's annual ball, The New Year's Bash. My pack, Virdi Lux Pack, held it every year. It was a way and an excuse for the pack members all around to let loose, find their respective mates, and celebrate the coming year with a loved person, that is, if you find your half.

This ball was what I needed. I needed to let loose and hopefully find my half. This was my first time attending the ball because I've never felt the need to before, but wolves and others below the age of nineteen were not permitted to enter the pack hall.

I headed to my ensuite bathroom and performed my normal routine with added elements. All the while, silence engulfed me and took me whole. It surrounded me and took comfort in my vulnerability. It brought back joyful and pain-filled memories. Audiobooks, music, youtube videos, any form of sound really, was a welcome comfort from the deafening silence.

I walked over to my closet and looked inside, my eyes drifted towards the back and caught sight of dresses I already had in mind. I inspected each one and tried to keep it to a minimum tonight.

The first option was a white strapless dress that cut mid-thigh and had Blue sequins from the top and cascaded down, fading into diamond-like sparkles. I liked it, but it showed more than I was comfortable with. It should have cut right before the knee, but with my height, it would stop ways before. I was not too sure if my boobs would fit those cups. I bought this dress quite a while ago.

The second dress was a cute, short, red dress that was constricting at the bust and flared out below. It had an even cuter fabricated rose for my hair and a necklace too. This was not my dress and I sighed again. I couldn't even consider wearing this dress because It belonged to my sister, Reina for short, who was very possessive of her belongings. I do not doubt that she would strip me of it once she saw me in it.

The third dress was a strapless black and white dress that cut mid-thigh and lengthen at the back until it fell to the floor. It had this thick white lace material going over the bust area. I liked this one the most, I had the shoes and a hairstyle in mind.

I took a seat at my dresser. I looked in the mirror and decided to take a natural look, only applying light makeup placed my braids into a bun, allowing two braids in front to frame my face. I never really liked applying makeup to my face; my face and makeup never agreed anyway.

I left the dress on my bed and went to look for the shoes I had in mind. I kept all my shoes under my bed for convenience. If an intruder decided to surprise me, I could grab a stiletto and nail the perp in his eye, that's what I call efficient thinking.

I digress.

I could not find the shoes. I huffed and took all my shoes out from beneath my bed. I searched through each pair, and again, found nothing. Leaving the room in a black robe in search of my shoes I mosey on to my mother's room first, knowing the regular shoe thief that she was. We were the same shoe size, so she often and never returned them but instead bought me a new pair of shoes.

I knocked on her bedroom door and immediately received a faint invitation to enter. My mother looked absolutely beautiful, more than her usual radiant beauty. With her dark brown locs tied back and a smokey eye to accentuate her hazel green eyes. Her high and angular cheekbones faintly brushed a light blush for her mahogany coloured skin. Her full and naturally puckered lips were painted red to match her dress, which was a bright red, full-length one-strap dress. She rarely wore like this, my mother was hunting, and not for food.
