Listen I know I'm not the perfect kid, I get into fights, have anger problems, am selfish, and don't care about much. But that doesn't mean I should be going to summer camp for it.

My mother had cornered me this morning before school and she gave me a small pamphlet. It read "Camp Half-Blood" I had asked her what it meant but she only said it was a summer camp for troubled kids and teens. Which was not very helpful. "So you're just trying to ship me off again, thanks." I stormed out of the small apartment.

I kicked a rock on my way to school. As I was walking I noticed my friend Josh being picked on by the older kids at our school.  I walk over to them and punch the three of them as hard as I could.

I kept hitting the main one, he always was starting things and making the school even worse of a place.  Josh ended up pulling me off him and the three bullies ran off. "How many times have I told you not to get into fights and to control your anger?" Josh ask me. "A lot? . ." he sighed "It's useless."

On our way to school I told him about the camp my mom is sending me to, he said he knew about it and he is going too. Well, at least I'll know someone I thought.

We walked to a bus stop, which looked like it had seen better days. We walked into the almost empty bus, I took the aisle seat because apparently Josh gets bus sick and I had to sit next to him for some reason.

There were two middle-aged women in the front talking about a new sale at some extraordinary new store. Then there was this person in the very back with a black hoodie, dress pants, and neon pink boots. I could not unsee this man.

Mostly because all he did was watch me and it was starting to get weird. I went to get up but Josh pulled me down. "Is it just me or does that man keep looking at me?"

Josh looked out the window and then back to the man. His face filled with worry. "I think we should get off here." The bus stopped and we got off, I didn't know what his problem was but I learned to listen to him in situations like this.

"So are you going to tell me what's going on?" I ask as he picked up speed. "They found you." I ran next to him "Who found me and why are we running?"

"Listen I can't explain everything right now you just have to trust me, there are monsters after you and we need to get to camp now."

We ran out of the city in silence, I still didn't know what we were running from, but if it kept me from having to go to school I was happy about it.

We were now walking in a forest and I was pretty sure we were going in circles, but Josh didn't listen.

There was a loud roar in the distance "Schist! We need to hurry!' Josh yelled. The ground was shaking like something big was run straight for us.

Josh threw a ring at me "Here, I wasn't supposed to give that to you till we got to camp, but it's an emergency." I looked at the black ring "Um I don't feel the same dude, sorry." He face-palmed "No it's a sword, push the button and put it on." I did as he said and the ring turned into a sword. "No way, this is awesome!" I said.  "Your mom said it was a gift from your dad and to give it to you once you were ready."

The monster ran up closer to us it was the size of a building, it was totally terrifying. It also smelled putrid, the smell must have knocked Josh out because when I looked back at him he was on the ground.

"Oh no, that's not good." I ran towards the big monster my sword in hand and I screamed, nothing, in particular, I wasn't even sure what I said, but it felt natural to do.

I swing my sword and hit the monsters leg, he roared out in pain loudly. He kicked at me I jumped back in just enough time. I ran behind him and slashed my sword into his ankle. I was starting to get dizzy because of the smell, maybe cutting the monster wasn't the best idea because it just made the smell even worse.

I climbed up the monster and got to its shoulder, it was trying to swing me off but it didn't work. I push my sword into the back of his head and he disappeared into a gray dust. I fell and hit the ground hard. I rubbed my ribs "I don't think that's how they are supposed to feel." I ignore the pain and grab Josh dragging him along in the direction I think the camp was in. I didn't need any of the monsters friends to come and try to kill me.

Things were getting worse as I walked, my vision was blurry, my legs were shaky and ready to give out. Then I heard a voice in my head, it was deep and scruffy like the kind of voice a man who smoked or something would have.

"Don't give up boy! Get to camp! It is near, follow the path!" The person was yelling and it kinda sounded like he was angry at something, but it was motivational.

I get to this big arch with touches on each side, the letters at the top rearranged and it spelled out "Camp Half-Blood" I walked through with Josh's body and then everything goes black.
