Without even thinking about it, I stepped off the train and hoped for a beautiful sunrise and possibly a warm breeze. I was greatly mistaken when I felt a cold puddle drench my feet. I opened my eyes to find that there was no sunrise; it was still fairly dark out. What was I even thinking? Like the sun would actually rise at 3:00 A.M. in Anaheim, California. Hey, I'm from Michigan, how was I supposed to know?
I did a walk that looked like I had to take a shit. Being stuck on a train for a day and a half AND having a terrible fear of shitting in public bathrooms really made me want to take a shit. Also, the water soaking my socks was really uncomfortable. But having to take a shit was even more uncomfortable. I walked into the rest stop and wheeled my luggage behind me. I rushed towards the bathrooms where I could finally have my peace. After dropping the biggest load ever, I ordered a coffee and everything bagel from the snack stand. In one really sweet movement, I unlocked my iPhone, sat down on the bench, and took a bite of my bagel. Really, it was pretty sweet. I checked the newest tweets from my favorite celebrities. Marina Diamandis being a legend, as always. Tyler Oakley slaying me one tweet at a time. Karen Gillan being the cutest ging ever. I scrolled through my Tumblr for a bit. Made a few hilarious text posts (I laugh at my own jokes). Laughed at a few gifs of cats falling off furniture. I looked at the clock and saw it was 4:45. Avery told me to call so she could pick me up at 6:00. Hell no, I honestly didn't want to wait until 6:00. I dialed her number and hoped she would pick up.
"Goddamn it, Tam. I said 6:00. Six o' clock. Not four in the fucking morning!" Avery yelled through the phone. Shit.
"Well, technically it's almost five. And sorry. I didn't really want to wait for 3 hours in a grimy old rest stop. I've never been here, man. I could get taken and thrown into a prison or something."
"For what, sitting on a bench?"
"I don't know if loitering is accepted here. Anyways, come pick me up."
"No. It's five in the morning. Do I have to?" Holy shit Avery, you're not the one standing in a freezing rest stop with approximately zero people besides that creepy Russian guy who asked for a cigarette.
"Yes, you have to. Or I'll sell your Vidcon ticket. I'd make pretty big bucks with that." I teased her.
"I'm on my way." she responded, then the line went dead. Well, that was easy.

I waited for 10 minutes and finally saw her grungy car pull up to the curb. I grabbed my things and walked out the door, watching Avery as she opened the trunk and flipped me The Bird.
"You're so lucky you're taking me to Vidcon." she told me as she helped me put my luggage in her car.
"Oh, I know." I smirked and sat in the passenger seat.
She started up her car as I finally saw the sunrise.
"You know, you probably should have arrived the day before Vidcon. You're gonna be mad tired, bro."
I turned to her and winked. "They invented coffee for a reason."
We drove back to her apartment. She lived in a cute little apartment complex in Anaheim. Mostly old people lived there. She liked it because no one would keep her up all night. Those poor old folks, her one woman parties probably wake them up daily.
I grabbed my luggage, opened up the building door, and started walking up the steps. Holy fuck. These steps were steep as hell. Not only were they steep, but there were literally 100 steps.
