Chapter 6: Bed Rest
Alex woke up from one of the best slumbers he's ever had. this was his 3rd day of bed rest. He looked at his new watch, puzzled. It seemed it hadn't moved since his arrival. He wondered why. Alex wondered alot about this place. It was next to the ruins of an ancient city, however no tourist ever managed to find their way on the camp. Now that he'd thought about it, he never saw any tourist even when he saw the ruins. If a tourist had managed to find the camp, the Beast Stalker 'community' would be in trouble. This pace looked everything BUT natural. It had a very, 'old', look to it. Old as in ancient, between to the feudal times scenery, to the medival weapons, this place obviously wasn't normal.
Alex was in the medical center. His bed was surronded by a think curtain, that let in no light. He reached into his pocket for his phone, Alex thought the watch might be broken. His phone was the same, anything involving internet wasn't opperating. Then he gave up on laziness, and hobbled over the curtain opening it to find it was very early in the morning. The sun hadn't risen yet, but the horizion was dimly lit. Alex guessed that it was around 3 or 4 in the morning. When he swung open the curtains a cold breeze hit his face, it carried the scent of fresh trees. Alex decided he'd take a walk, ignoring the note that told him to stay in the bed. Alex then realized he'd have trouble walking, then he realized that he was connected to an IV pouch. He took the stand along with the pouch and used it for balance. Alex knew he'd get in trouble for wandering the camp, but he wasn't in the mood to lay in a bed all day, and he was no longer tired so sleep wasn't an option. He was holding his phone in his hand, and he wrapped the IV stand under his arm. He opened the entrance to the Medical Center.
CREEEEEAK!
This noise echoed over the silent camp, Alex stood, frozen he looked around nervously. He let out a quiet sigh of relief as he saw that no one had been woken. He then left the patio of the medical center swiftly running across the snowy ground walking over rocks nd twigs as he entered the forest, being very careful not to touch any trees. As he progressed towards the ruins through the woods, it became invreasingly harder for him to drag the IV stand over the rough uneven rural ground. So he strolled util the liquid in the IV was empty, he began throwing up, so this meant that the toxin was out of his system. Still he had a bit of difficulty walking straight.
He then walked to a tree, he examined it closely, it had no signs of animals on it. However he wanted to be safe so he jumped up and grabbed a high branch. While he was in the air, Alex squirmed to get the branch to break off. He did this for several minutes until it finally gave and he fell on his butt. He got up and used the branch as a cane, as he headed to the ruins he heard the snaping of twigs in the distance. He brushed it off thinking it was wildlife, but as he progressed more noises came from different directions, and they got closer. Then he had a quick flash-back.
"...or whatever other creatures are out in that forest." This fragment of a sentence that Felicia had said the day before rang through his head.
Alex ran then the noises followed at a distance, but Alex could still tell something was trailing him. Then he turned around and saw nothing behind him. He thought he was safe with his back turned to 3 trees. Then little speks of dirt and tree bark fell on his head. He looked up to see a fihure diving at him from a nearby branch. Alex instinctively lunged out of the way, and in perfect timing. However, he rolled down a sloped hill. On his way down he hit trees, and gained speed as he decended down a steep slope. Alex caught himself on a tree just as he was about to fall into a river. The sloped hill broke out of the forest and ended abruptly with a 4 foot drop into ice cold water. Then he heard ruslting leaves, and just as he was going to drop into the river, a hand grasps him by the wrists and pulled him up.
