I think there's nothing, in this day and age, that makes your stomach fall faster than the flashing of blue and red lights. It's weird how you think irrational thoughts; you worry about those you love - whenever you see these colours flashing in time with each other. People never think of the logical solution for this situation.

In my mind, I imagined my grandmother lying on the floor. Her skin covered in ash, like my parent's bodies were, as cold-hearted police officers stepped over her body. I didn't think that it may not be possible as my grandmother was at work and had sent me several text messages ten minutes prior. After you see that the worst has not happened, you worry no more. The blue and red lights are no longer meant for you. And it's then, and only then, that you begin to make a more logical solution for the situation at hand.

The light's, now blurring together to make the colour purple, were in fact not in front of my house, but in front of my neighbour's house. The house of my best friend in disguise. Of the flower that pretends to be blooming when the sun comes out, but as soon as, it believes, no one is watching it curls away. And once again my stomach dropped faster than ever before. Once again, my brain let fear take over, and I imagined the worst. As if I was on a cycle, I tried to be logical. When nothing contradicted myself. Fear moved from my brain and struck deep into my heart.
"Do you know Violet Parker, Sir?"
