౹. Justin Foley (part 3)
{A few days later}
It was that time of the year again. That time when my parents would have a lot, or should I say too many, business flights. My dad would go to Egypt, to France or to Austria for his work trips but for once, it was somewhere else: in Canada. My mom had to leave for France. The work flights are a thing in my family ever since i'm 12. At that time, I used to have a nanny taking care of me.
I was used to it, yet, my mom was still managing to dramatize the situation and would constantly ask me if She should stay or If I was sick of her work trips. She would Say that she's a horrible mother and I would pat her back and Say something like, “Agreed.” and we would both laugh it off.
“Mom, i'm fine. You guys gave me All the money, I promise I'll leave my phone open, I'll clean the house, eat healthy bla bla bla” I huffed as she ran around the house, putting some last minute things in her luggages. My mom would always overthink things and start re-doing her luggages at the last minute. My dad, on the other hand, was drinking his coffee, watching TV and adjusting his clothes.
“ Shower everyday ! If I find out you haven't showered..”
“MOM! I'm not 8 anymore. I Will take my showers everyday.” I replied, thinking about the times I hated taking showers. I hated stripping when it was -20 degrees celsius, outside.
“Don't eat a lot of junk food. Eat fruits. Use All the money we gave you. Don't-”
“Don't do anything illegal, don't bring boys home and finally, don't make a party. Get it mom. Have a nice trip guys.” I waved.
“Oh, sweetie, i'm going to miss you” Squealed my mom, hugging me tight.
I hugged her back, then kissed my Father on the cheek and finally took my bike. I couldn't take the risk to leave the house late since I had to go to Justin's place and put something under the tree.
I won't lie, I feel like a downgraded Santa for doing this. I honestly deserve a raise for this job because I'm not even getting thanked.
Nor payed.
I put under the tree a vintage over-sized t-shirt with some water and a box of oreos. I rushed to school, entering quickly the building. I realized that everyone was gathering up, facing their backs to me.
What was happening ?
“Everyone, go back to your lockers. Please.” yelled a familiar voice.
Finally I got to see Bryce. He was hand-cuffed, the counselor and the principal were by his side with an police officer.
Was he getting locked up for what he did to me ? The principal told me he would get suspended for a few days but he never told me he could go to prison.
I suddendly saw Bryce stopping his walk and he turned his head towards a girl. The Girl had brown long and wavy hair with a few blond strands of hair.
“I can't fucking believe you, Jessica. You have no proof.” He said, loud enough for us all to hear.
“Bryce, Cut the shit. You've been doing this for too long.”
“Yeah, right. We'll see each other at court.” He spat and the police officer pushed him slightly, to force him to walk.
Bryce was actually a dangerous person. I was relieved that I wouldn't have to keep being scared of wandering alone in the corridors. The danger was gone.
As I attended my last period of the day, I realized that Jessica was sitting alone, towards the back. I saw her before but never really payed attention to her. Instead of sitting next to Clay, I gave him a reassuring look and went to sit with her.
