•Longing•
__________
Imagine being asleep and Bauer longing for you to wake up, to come back to him.
__________
Again, it was time to wake up...
He always had to. Even though he did not want to.
Maybe if you would wake up as well, it would be better...
He had little time to keep things in order, but he always seemed to think about you, remember how you would always wake up before him, before the air ran out.
Your eyes would be the first thing he would see when he would wake up, but now he only sees the capsule that would keep him alive, the same one that keeps you alive right now, except their was a difference.
You haven't woken up, and as each day passes Bauer looses hope, hope that he could see you again, hope that he could see his wife again.
A longing that grows as each passing second ticks by, then when he sleeps he can never stop dreaming about you.
Those six months are when he could
see you, it would seem that his longing for you would not be so heavy, but it was always there, after all he is asleep.
He could feel the salty tears streaming down his cheeks, his chest tighten painfully at the thought of you, laying there, seeming almost dead.
Quickly he wiped the tears of his cheeks when he heard Cartwright calling for him.
It was time to continue the routine.
He glanced at the clock, again there was 15 minutes left, like always just in time, he stood in fort the the doorway where you sleep, like always he debated in crossing the threshold, but he had to see you, even if it was for a couple of minutes, at least to remind himself that you are still here.
Slowly he approached you, and there you were, your breath was slow and steady, he was lucky that you could be here, many people got left behind, the only reason that you were saved, was because he set up terms, it was that or he wouldn't be one of the engineers to keep his place running, unfortunately. You weren't completely here.
He placed a shaky hand on the plastic, his voice cracked as he spoke.
"Hey love... it's me agin, I hope you aren't getting sick of me, always visiting you." He gave a weak chuckle, but it quickly faded as another tear escaped his sparkling blue eyes that you loved, his eyes turned dull over time, and you would be devastated if you saw.
"Things are the same here, Cartwright always making me bust my ass you know ho-" he couldn't finish his sentence when a sob shook his entire body.
"I really miss you (y/n), wake up please, just wake up, wake up!" He yelled, hoping that you would wake up, but nothing.
He looked back at the clock to see he only had five more minutes left, he looked back down at your unmoving form, and with a sad sigh, he kissed his hand and placed it on the plastic cover.
"I love you (y/n)"
Quickly he ran back, laying down and waited for the capsule to close, and just as he fell he would fall back to sleep, he whispered the exact same words that he always says before sleep would take over.
"Goodnight my love" longing was heavy in his voice.
And once he closed his eyes he saw yours, so vibrant and full of love, and in that moment the longing in his heart was not so heavy.
