19. First Coffee, Now Pizza

I set my belt down on the table. I pull at the straps of my vest, pulling it off. I grab a sweatshirt and sweats and change into them. I have the locker room to myself right now, the boys are packing our car. Shoving my clothes into my bag I check my phone. Funny enough I still haven't changed his name.

Congratulations on tonight.

Thank you, I saw you in the crowd.

I wanted to see you win, is that a crime?

No, we just haven't talked in a while.

Well that was kind of your fault, but I know why you did it.

I want you to know, what we had was real. That wasn't planed, and it made what I had to do so much harder. I have to go, bye.

Heat creeps into my face, he hasn't called me his Queen since before I turned on him. I never realized I missed it, and him.

I shove my phone into my pocket and grab my bag. The halls of the arena are mostly empty, crew is loading equipment into the trucks, most of the talent has left. Joe honks at me, because I almost walk by the SUV.

I put on headphones and put my legs across the seat. Jon and Joe are sitting upfront, poorly singing along to the radio. Most days I find it funny, just not today.

My phone buzzing causes my eyes to snap open. It's Colby.

Good job kicking ass tonight.

Thank you, it's not easy, ya know.

He was in the crowd? I didn't see him.

Yeah, I was just curious if the Authority was bothering you guys again. Don't want my Pumpkin getting hurt.

I  turn on 'do not disturb', I don't want to deal with the fact that I just lied to Colby. What I'm I coming to? Lying to the guy I'm seeing? Am I even seeing him anymore?

I pull off my headphones and tap Jon on the shoulder.

"You have any vodka?" I ask, even though I know the answer.

"Of course!" He chuckles pulling a bottle out of his bag and handing it to me.

I unscrew the cap and take a swig, the burning sensation in my throats feels like nothing compared to what's going on in my mind.

At the hotel

Charlotte, North Carolina. Great place to get away from reality, mainly because it's not Florida.

I toss my stuff on the floor next to the couch in our hotel room. I fall face first onto the cushions. I hear Jon say something about going for a run, then the door opens and closes. Leaving just Joe and I.
