Chapter 4

It's Friday afternoon right now, I called Sarah over so she could help to get ready for my date with Jack. Oh my god I still can't believe that he asked me out. Anyway, since Wednesday Ethan was avoiding me, he didn't even try to annoy me , it was strange , but i didn't mind.
The door bell rang, I ran downstairs to open the door expecting to see Sarah but no, it was Ethan , ughh I thought he was going to stop annoying me like he was doing for the past 12 years ...
"What are you doing here?!"
"You have date with Jack right?"
I nodded.
"Well you're not going" he said.
"What?!who are you to tell-"
"Melanie he's not a good guy like you think he is, he's just gonna hurt you"
"Since when do you care?" I asked harshly.
"I don't I'm just warning you"he replied,and then he left.
Seconds later Sarah entered the door.
"Did I just see Ethan coming out of your house? But damn he looked angry..." she said.
"Hello to you too" I replied sarcastically.
"Seriously what was he doing here ?" She asked curiously.
"He came here to 'warn' me about Jack , he told me that I shouldn't go with him. Like who does he think he is?"
She was deep in thought for like two minutes , then a grin appeared on her face , I stood there confused for a second.." why are you grinning creepily?" I asked kind of worried.
"He likes you bitch" she said happily.
I stood there silent for a moment, then I bursted out laughing for minutes.
"Seriously Melanie why are you laughing, I mean , why would he warn about Jack? It's your brother's job to warn you about guys , so I think he's he's trying to hold you back from going because he's jealous..."
I think about what she said for a moment , then I bursted out laughing again. "Ohh my god Sarah you're so funny.."
She groaned loudly and then she said "Never mind, just come on let's go get ready for the date " she said excitedly.
We went to my room and started searching for an appropriate outfit for the date, I've been trying clothes for the past hour.
"Hey Melanie try this .."
I groaned"But I'm tired"
"Come on stop being such a spoiled brat and try it" she threw the outfit on me.
"FINE"
I tried the outfit and looked on my mirror, hmmm.. that's pretty good.
I got out of my dressing room and showed my outfit to my crazy best friend , when she looked at me she said with a big smile on her face " Perfect."

Then we moved to my makeup , but we kept it natural , we just contoured my cheeks and applied a little bit of mascara , blush, and a nude lipstick, and a little bit of highlighter.
And I didn't do anything for my hair , I just let it down in its natural waves.
~ minutes later ~
The doorbell rang , and when I came downstairs I saw my brother and my dad talking with Jack, my father put on a scary look on his face , same for my brother, and jack looked terrified as hell. I laughed silently and joined them.
" hey" I said
"Hel-" Jack was about to say but he paused and checked me out while I stood awkwardly, my brother cleared his throat and shoot Jack a glare . Jack then realized what was he doing and looked at my eyes and replied with an awkward hey . We exit the house and went to his car.

(Melanie's house)
When we got into his car, he said " you look gorgeous " he said smiling.
"Thank you" I responded blushing
"You don't look bad yourself"
The drive was a little awkward because we were both silent. Twenty minutes later, we arrived to the mall then we went to the cinema floor. He bought us both tickets and popcorn(he didn't let me pay for myself). We decided to watch a horror movie even though I hate them. We entered the movie, Half way through the movie, I was trembling in fear, and Jack was holding me and whispering me soothing words , I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine too, he started to lean in and was about to kiss me when a voice interrupted us .
"You better not kiss my baby sister" my brother growled.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE JOSH?!" I whisper yelled.
"What, I have to keep an eye on you ... what if he hurts you?!"
"Well I can take care of myself ! I cant believe you did that" I said storming out of the theater.
Jack followed me outside. " I'm sorry about my brother, I know he ruined our date, he's just a little overprotective..."
"It's okay I understand I would do the same if I had a sister" he said chuckling "the movie is almost done anyway" he continues.
We exited the mall and we walked a little around the city then we decided to head home. The drive was silent but it was comfortable, when we arrived Jack got out of the car and rushed to my door and opened it. I thanked him, then he walked me to the door.
"I had fun tonight, thank you" I said smiling.
"No problem, and I hope we can go out again" he replied nervously.
"Sure" I said chuckling at his nervousness.
His face broke into a grin, then he started to lean in slowly, and his lips crashed into mine , the kiss was soft and innocent but I didn't feel any sparks , or butterflies or anything even though I've liked him since 7th grade. I pulled out of the kiss and smiled at him , and he did the same. Then we said our goodbyes and I entered the house with a big smile on my face.
