Chapter 5
Jade's POV
I am usually a morning person. I wake up and have no trouble getting out of bed. But today apparently my body decided to change the schedule and not want to get up.
It also doesn't help when you have a very loud, obnoxious grandma yelling at you and slamming the front door so hard that the house shakes.
Maybe knowing that this was going to be the worst day of your life wasn't useful. But what can you do?
"Grandma is here!" Yep that is how I woke up. Then the ground shook and I fell to the floor. "I brought Tufty!"
Oh yes. Grandma brought Tufty her favorite hamster. She took him everywhere. Even shopping. Who takes a hamster shopping? My grandma does!
I groaned and heard Jared's door open and close causing Roger's ears to stand up.
I decided to get ready before going out of my room.
When I came out I was glad I did get ready. Grandma had finally realized that she couldn't keep driving and had given up on trying a year ago. Our cousin Ted was always chauffeuring her around in exchange for a room in her house. Well, Grandma had brought him along and he stood in the doorway half asleep.
"Why are you so tired boy? Haven't you ever drove for three hours.
"Ya, but I didn't have to get up at three to do it." He yawned and Jared asked him if he wanted to sleep on the couch.
"Three ain't going to kill ya. Three is the Greek lucky number you know. There were three chief gods, three major cities, three is the right number." Grandma was always going on and on about Greece and how she wanted to go there someday when she had the money and strength.
"Grandma it's six o'clock I think you should get some sleep." Jared said scratching his head and going into the kitchen.
"Kid I will go to bed when I want to. Which is right now so excuse me!" She started to go to the stairs bringing out Tufty and snuggling with him. He bit her, she didn't seem to notice.
I walked into the kitchen and got out a pop tart from the pantry. "Why is she here?"
"Don't know. Maybe she has come to meet our new housemates or something. I can't believe she brought Tufty, she knows Mom is allergic to rodents." Jared took a bite out of the apple he was eating.
"Ya, well we better go get Mom and Dad up and let them know that she's here." I really didn't want to be the one to wake up our parents, they were impossible in the morning.
"Ya, maybe you should I am going to let Roger out." Roger lifted his head from where he was laying in front of the dishwasher.
"Maybe you should I have to feed all of you babies. I'll make food you wake them up!" I said getting food out.
"Get them up Jade." I raised an eyebrow at him. "I will... uh... help you with that prank you want to rig up on Ms. Welerton."
Oh, he was good.
"Fine. I'll go wake them!" I stormed off to their bedroom.
Pacing outside their doorway I ran a nervous hand through my hair.
Why am I totally freaking out? Well that is an interesting story. You see when I was six and it was Christmas morning Jared and I tried to wake them up. That afternoon at the Christmas Day Party I walked in with a black eye.
It was not child abuse. My mom has this weird paranoia about robbers coming in and kidnapping her or something. She thought I was one of them and punched me in the face. Luckily I was still half asleep and it didn't hurt that much.
