Now the very beginning of the story would be near impossible to tell. Truthfully, one can't be sure if God himself even knows the origins of this feud. Looking as far back as the Stone Age, it would seem the Montagues' and the Capulets' ancestors have never cared for one another. Perhaps a miscommunication of some sort, before language or words even existed, was the very first source. We mortals will never know a complete truth, but we know that whatever happened has spiraled into what it is today. A long withstanding battle; not just physical but with verbal weaponry as well.
Capulets
If you were to ask the Montague family (any member at all and I do mean this), they would tell you that they were swine dressed in gaudy disguises. They would tell you that they were classless fools masquerading as high-class aristocrats.
&
Montagues
Ask any Capulet, and they will tell you of all their brutish ways (whether true or false). They would speak of their unruliness, their tastelessness and say that they were godless scoundrels.
All generations of these families were raised on the insults, and they were rarely questioned. As centuries went by their hate never faltered, but then what seemed like the impossible happens one day.
