"Cameron go up to your room. I'll go check out the woods and call the police." Her dad told her. "Okay." Was all Cameron could say. She was so drained now. She couldn't argue for him to stay with her. That the idea of being alone was almost as terrifying as him going into the woods alone. Cameron turned and left her dads study. She pulled out her phone and dialed Lexi's number.
"I am so sorry Cam, but you will never guess who I spent the day with!" Lexi said as a greeting instead of hello. "Lexi, I need you to tell you parents that you are spending the night here. I...I found what was buried. I'm to scared to be here alone. Please tell me you will come over." Cameron choked out. She sounded like she was crying, except tears no longer came. She was even to tired to cry now. "Wait, what?" Lexi asked confused. "Just come okay. I'll tell you everything when you get here." Cameron said into the phone before hanging up and falling onto her bed.
It only took twenty minutes until she heard her friend tap at her bedroom door. "Okay, I'm here. What is going on?" Lexi said as she pushed the door open. Lexi filled the room with her usual excited energy. If it was any other day Cameron would soak it all in. Lexi flung her duffle bag half across the room like she always did. She knew how much my parents hated her "inappropriate behavior".
"It was getting late and I couldn't get ahold of you. I couldn't take the nightmares again. I decided to go look and see what was out there. I wish I never went. I'm never going to sleep again!" Cameron started explaining. " I opened the bag and I was hit by the smell first then I saw it. Well...I saw her." Cameron finished. "What do you mean, HER?" Lexi looked at her best friend still lost. Until it all hit her. " You mean you found someone out there? He buried someone? WHO?!" Lexi asked as it all fell into place what Cameron was telling her. " I'm not sure who it is, but it is a woman. That much I do know. My dad is calling the police. Did you see them when you came in?" Cameron asked. "No! No one is here. Not even Mary. I let myself in after knocking a few times." Lexi said.
"That's strange. Maybe my dad took Mary with him to go look. He should have called the police by now. They will probably be here soon." Cameron said. She was getting worried but now that Lexi was here at least she wasn't alone. This all was starting to feel like one awful dream she couldn't wake up from.
