Red and Claire opened the scroll given to them and studied its contents. The upper part of the scroll detailed the rules of the Arena and below it were letters printed in bold which read: "Elimination means you cannot influence the remaining contestants in any way. Failure to comply will result in disqualification and automatic withdrawal from the arena."
After reading this, the proceeded to study the contents in the lower portion which contained their groupings for the first round of eliminations which read:
Group A
Pair 1: Redanius Ulric (Swordfighter) and Claire Solaria(Healer) of Wintercrest
Pair 2: Moskov Solika(Fire mage) and Ivan Milako(Ice Mage) of Whiteharrow
Pair 3: Falkar Sikh (Swordfighter) and Makubar Sikh (Swordfighter) of Sorrowind
Pair 4: Enigma Reor (Archer) and Salazar Senjo (Assassin) of Wintercrest
Pair 5: Fendar Grell (Warhammer) and Reginald Mace (Ice mage) of Whiteharrow
"Ennie and Sal are grouped with us!" exclaimed Red enthusiastically. "Maybe we should team up with them to eliminate the other competition. This will be easy!"
"Great idea, but first we need to find them" said Claire with a serious expression. She was already worrying about the Whiteharrow contestants. A Warhammer tank backed up by three mages. She knew this round would be hard, but she trusted Red and the other kids from Wintercrest though she never saw them fight.
So Red and Claire looked around and saw that Ennie and Sal were already approaching them evidently having the same idea.
Ennie was a small girl of fifteen with dark, shiny brown hair and grey eyes. She wore a white shirt beneath a leather vest and had a rosewood bow on her shoulder. Behind her was a silver-trimmed quiver full of Red-feathered arrows. Sal on the other hand, was a tall boy around sixteen with black hair and was dressed in white, silk robes padded with leather on the shoulders and arms. He had a katana sheathed in an ivory scabbard on his side. they were no doubt, kids from a rich families.
"Hey Claire! Sally and me were thinking we should team up to get rid of the other pairs first." said Ennie cheerfully with a pitched tone. "Oh, so you've paired with Red huh? well good luck."
"Yeah we had the same idea as well. do you have any ideas for a plan?" replied Claire ignoring Ennie's remarks on Red. she was eager to discuss about a plan as she was very conscious about the time.
"Wow, aren't we eager? we just met and you get straight to the plans." said Ennie taken aback by Claire's words.
"Conscious about the time huh? I guess its right to be." said Sal calmly reading Claire's mind. "Those four from Whiteharrow should be teaming up as well. My plan is to take out the Sikhs of sorrowind first. The harrowers(people of whiteharrow, Sorrowind folk can be referred to as sorrowers, and Wintercrest folk could be referred to as Winterers) should be doing the same thing at the get go."
"That's true, I should be able to take out one of the Sikhs easily with Claire's help." Said Red with confidence and optimism.
As soon as Red spoke, he saw Sal and Ennie eyeing him with doubt. They knew nothing about Red and the fact that he was not from a noble family has built and invisible wall between Red and the others. The two thought Red was being out of line.
"Don't worry guys, Red is a good sword-fighter, he's been training with Stephano." assured Claire who noticed the pair's reaction.
"Stephano? that drunkard? Ha ha, he can't even hold a stick!" smirked Ennie. Sal was didn't utter anything and remained silent.
