Ashlyn POV

Will brought me tree-climbing today. I should have known, this was a bad idea. We always spent sundays doing exotic events, we once tries to jump down a waterfall, but our parents stopped us before we could jump. Out of everything, he chose tree-climbing, and being the stupid person I am, I blindly followed.

'First step on the twigs, hold tightly to the dent...' He was a good teacher, a great teacher indeed, but he clearly wasn't thinking when he chose tree-climbing. I was always the clumsy one, so I didn't want to get hurt again, The last time I did, the pack doctor made me stay on bed for a month. It was terrible. I refuse to jump 10 feet and risk breaking my legs. That would cost me a year of bed arrest, as Will calls it. I didn't want to climb down as Will keep said on the way here, many people slip then fall, which sounds worse. As a result, he went to the pack house to fetch the help of our parents.

I am left alone, hanging my legs in the air, kicking at the imaginary birds that fly by, waiting for his return.

Will was my best friend, we have been since diapers. He was the same age as me. Six years old, stubborn and utterly foolish. I bet he forget me the way home, diving in the cookie jar. The crazy kid he is. He is a total sweetheart, but his love for sweets is really extreme. I sometimes wonder how he manages to keep up a fit body. He was the son of the Alpha, while I was just plain old Ashlyn.

I am a werewolf, I was six, so I couldnt shift yet. The Alpha was the highest ranking in our hierarchy society. The Beta comes next, then the pack members.

The cold wind snapped me out of my thoughts, it was blowing directly in my face, it was quite cold as winter was approaching. Will insisted on coming to this part of the forest, he stated that the trees were as high as mountains here... To me, it was the same. I really had no imagination at all. I hope Will comes back soon; I really don't want to stay here. The place is giving me goosebumps.

I was too caught up with my thoughts, and when I looked down, I saw a dark-haired, well-built boy who looked a little older than me standing under the tree. Even at a young age, he was handsome and I couldn't get my eyes off him. He radiated power, he must be a son of an Alpha from a nearby pack. His eyes was glistening, with a evil smirk hanging on his lips. He climbed up the tree, looking at me the whole process.

My palms started to get sweaty, he was bad news, even though he was about the same age, his aurora was unsettling. His whole figure screamed danger.

He slowly walked towards the trees, he stepped on a dent and started climbing up. The atmosphere was intense while he was slowly crawling towards me, the evil glint still present in his eyes.

When he finally approached, he opened his mouth and whispered, 'Hi, I'm Jace.' His voice was really cute, but it was like a little girl, proving his age to be about mine.

'Hi, my name is Ashlyn.' I replied in a cheery tone, mammy always taught me to be nice to people.

'Well Ashlyn, I hope you forgive me.' He said, with no emotion in his voice, or his face. Following his words, he pushed me off the tree with a shove at the back.

I screamed, hoping everything to end. Hating Will for his unhealthy obsession over sweets. Hating myself for listening to him. Hating Jace the most for pushing me off the tree. I screamed again as a searing pain come shooting through my arm. I hated Jace, I hope I never see him again.
