Lies Upon Moonlight

Prolouge: A Rough Start

Glitter and Lyla walked threw Galaxy Forest that lies at the outskirts of our home town Moonlight Valley. After awhile we walked back and onto Crystal Street where our house is. We walked inside.
"Your late again" rang threw the hallway, unmistakably their mothers.
"Sorry.." Glitter said and looked to the wooden floor.
"We got the berries.." Lyla said, scared to speak. "The ones you wanted...?"
"That's enough excuses!" Our mother yelled. "Go to your room!" She pointed up the stairs.
Before she could say anything else, Glitter and Lyla ran up the stairs to their shared room.
Glitter flopped down on her bed and Lyla sat down on her desk chair and got to work on her school assignment.
"This isn't fair!" Glitter yelled from under her pillow. "We get what she wants and she gets mad!"
Lyla turned to look at Glitter. "It'll be fine Glitter.." Lyla said. "We just have to hope for the best."
Glitter sat up on the bed. "I guess so.."
Lyla glanced at her school assignment and shut the computer down. "I can work on it later," she said smiling. "Lets go down and eat. Mother probably made something while we were at school, as usual."
Glitter got up from the bed. "Food always makes me feel better.."
"There! Now come on!" Lyla said and opened the room door and went downstairs. Glitter followed and shut the door behind her.
Downstairs their mother was putting a type of soup into 2 bolls at the counter.
"Mother is dinner ready..?" Lyla said half way down the stairs. Glitter hid behind Lyla as she spoke.
Mom sighed. "Yes, I have made soup with some of the berries I got today"
"B-But.." Glitter said, "We got the berries..."
"Shut up Glitter it doesn't matter who got them" Mom said and looked back at the food. Glitter stayed silent.
"Now come sit at the table and eat," Mom said and Glitter and Lyla sat down.
They got their bolls of soup and ate quickly.
"Done Mother, thank you Mother" they both said in unison.
They both went to walk upstairs but their mother sighed.
"Glitter," their mother said and Glitter froze in fear. "Stay down here."
"Y-Y-Yes m-mother...." Glitter said and walked back down.
"Lyla, you may go to your room" Mother said and Lyla ran up to our room and shut the door.
"Glitter, I want you to redeem you stupidity" Her mother said. "Go outside and wait for me around the corner, on Fairy Light Lane."
"Yes Mother...." Glitter said and she walked outside.
~*~After 5 Minutes..~*~
"What is it mother..?" Glitter said as her mother approached.
Before Glitter could realize, she felt a hard slap on her cheek. Glitter put her hand to her cold, hurting cheek.
"Don't ever disappoint me again!" Her mother said.
"I-I.." Glitter said teary eyed.
"Don't speak unless spoken to!" Her mother said and walked towards the house.
Glitter stayed underneath the lamp post she was standing under as her mother slammed the door shut.
