"Did I fall asleep or something?" Sam pushed Cas' hand off his forehead, "why are you touching me."
Both questions were ignored, both men sat in silence as they sped down the road.
"Dean it's not safe, we need to get off the road." Cas was leaning against the door as if to feel a little weak.
Dean turned the car around, "okay we're taking Sammy home, our home."
"No, we need to get Jess." Sam's eyes were watering he did not want to consider that his nightmare was not in fact a nightmare, but reality. "Dean turn the car around."
Dean looked back at Sam then straight back to the road, seeing his brother almost in tears hurt him worst than being stabbed with a thousand knifes."We can not go back there, it's too dangerous, find the nearest motel." Cas pointed at an exit sign and Dean swerved into the exit lane.
"Are you guys fucking deaf, I said turn around we need to get Jess." Saying her name out loud made him break down, he had every reason to believe she was gone.
No one said anything the whole 10 minutes to the nearest motel. Dean sped, Cas closed his eyes, and Sam cried.
They pulled into a parking lot of a run down motel, Cas went inside to pay for a room, Sam and Dean waited in the car.
"Dean?" Sam look up tears still falling, "is she gone? Did this really happen? It-it's not just a nightmare anymore huh? It's reality"
"Sammy, I... I'm sorry."
Sam cut him off, "It's okay Dean, I know your not good with emotions." Sam wiped his tears and got out of the car. Dean pulled his key out of the ignition and got out of the car. He didn't know how to help Sammy so he just wrapped him in a hug.
The tight bear hug made Sammy feel warm and safe. He knew Dean wasn't too good with words, this hug was all he needed though. No fake explanation of how she's in a better place or how time would heal him, the hug from his big brother was all he wanted right now."Room 7," Cas shouted throwing the room key to Dean as the brothers pulled out of their hug. Dean walked to the impala and unlocked the trunk, Cas grabbed their bags.
The room was dull, the paint was fading and the floors were creaky, only two twin sized beds that looked too small for either brother. On the wall hung a starburst clock loudly ticking.Cas threw the duffel bags on a chair and walked to the door holding the jar of blood, making weird symbols.
Sam stared at him he was weirded out to the max, "what the hell is he doing, why is he painting devil worshiping shit in the wall?"
"It's not devil worshiping, it's a symbol to keep us hidden," Cas continued drawing in more corners of the room, " and it's not paint it's blood, human blood.
"Dean what the hell, who even is this guy? Why are you letting him- wait human blood? Did you guys murder someone?"Sam was freaking out, looking back and forth at Cas and Dean and the symbols.
"Look Sam we have a lot to explain, I need you to sit down and just try to be calm." Dean walked up to his brother and put a hand on his shoulder, "Cas is- well he's."
"A fucking psycho murderer that does devil worship?" Sam jerked away from his brother, "and what you joined him or something?"
Cas walked up to Sam. "I am an angel of the lord," he pushed Sam into the bed and handed him a belt, "bite on this." He looked towards Dean, "you're gonna need to hold him down."
Quickly Dean held his brother down closing his eyes and trying to block out the screams his brother made as Cas reached into his chest to mark his ribs.
Sam passed out from the pain, but when he woke up there was no pain and he was, again, left in the state of feeling like he had just woke up from a nightmare.
"Sam?" Dean helped his brother sit up, "trust me man I know how crazy we sound, but you gotta believe us."
"Dean crazy people don't know how crazy they sound to sane people." Sam got off the bed and started heading for the door.
Cas appeared in front of the door starting Sam, "how did you-" Sam was cut off by the black wings sprouting from behind Castiel.
Dean was in awe standing with his eyes wide and mouth open a little. He had never seen his blue eyed angel like that before, for some reason he was only more attracted to the man. He bit his lip, undressing Cas with his eyes. He stopped as soon as he remembered Sam was In the room. He just looked down at his feet then glanced back up at Cas and grinned a little.
Sam turned around and slowly sat down, his eyes still wide and his face pale. "O-okay, so you're an angel." He was staring at this feet, "and this isn't just one big nightmare? This-this is real?"
"Unfortunately, yeah Sammy, I'm so sorry." Dean sat next to his brother on the bed.
"Then what the hell didn't he do to me 5 minutes ago? And what's with the symbols?" Sam gestured toward the symbols then looked back and forth from Dean to Cas.
"I marked your ribs in enochian, it's a warding to hide you from angels, the symbols on the walls do the same and they only work if drawn in human blood." Cas was quick and learned how to explain it better from when he told Dean.
"Wait... how did I get out of the apartment?" Sam look at Dean his eyes starting to water once again.
Dean looked at Cas, " we were driving down the road and Cas got a bad feeling... I admit man My gut was telling me to turn around too, so I flipped A bitch. Cas said we were too late and he popped out of the car, I was still speeding down the street about a block from your apartment when Cas popped back in the car with you in his arms. I damn near spun out of control." Dean looked down his eyes now watering too, "Sammy I-I'm sorry I shouldn't have left with a bad feeling, you-you were almost dead Cas had to heal you."
Sam just stared blankly at Dean, "it's not your fault, it's okay seriously." He looked to Cas, "thank you, I just... it's a lot for me to take in I think I'm going to lay down for a while." He half smiled at them and rolled over to his side and closed his eyes to try to keep the tears from falling.
