“Ten cats?  That’s my FREAKING AGE!” I said loudly, over the yowling. I picked up the nearest kitty in the box.

The cat I picked up was a big, blue cat with black stripes underneath his eyes. It made him look a little like a fish with gills.

“Who did this to you guys? I’m gonna hunt them down and send Happy and Drac to take their frustration out on them!”

Drac looked at me as if he approved.

Happy just cocked his head, questionly meowing.

Drac turned to Happy and hissed.

“No fighting.” I said to Drac.

I turned back to the blue cat. He just gave me a ‘put me down’ look.

I did, continuing to take the kitties out of the box until only two cats remained. The orange-faced cat and the silver-haired kitty. The silver-haired cat was yowling loudly and I saw the skinny, frail-looking bright red cat glaring weakly at the kitties that were in the box.

I looked down at them.

“If you two would calm down, I’ll take you out of the box as well.” I said calmly.

Then I turned around and faced the eight new kitties.

“Alright, first things first. We’re giving you guys names and getting you some food. Especially you, mister.” I said, gently picking up the frail and skinny red kitty, holding him carefully.

The red kitty looked up and meowed quietly, and yawned.

“I think your name will be… Kuvvet. It means strength in Turkish. Turkish is a type of language.” I said looking down at him, “You should rest, Kuvvet. You really need it. I’ll wake you for dinner okay?”

Kuvvet mewed again quietly, fighting sleep. In the end he fell asleep anyways.

“Now, I’ll name the girl kitty now. You’re Lavender for the purple tint of your fur. It’s beautiful.” I sighed, talking softer now.

Lavender looked at Kuvvet and eyed me.

“Don’t worry. I’d never hurt him.” I reassured the purple-haired feline. Lavender seemed to relax a little bit and lay down close to me, in a spot where she could watch Kuvvet.

“Now, the black one with red eyes. You’re Ritter. It means knight in German."

"Blondie, you’re… Xantho. It means yellow in ancient Greek."

"The redhead beside Xantho is Ember."

"The blue kitty is Barracuda."

"The black and white one is Meggle."

"The brown and black striped one is Zipper. GET AWAY FROM MY WALLET, Zipper… Or I’ll make you suffer in the RAIN. That’s my money. MINE.” I glared at the brown-furred kitty, daring him to touch it.

Reluctantly, Zipper stepped away.

“Good.” I said, smiling as if nothing had happened.

I then noticed that the yowling from the spazzing cats had stopped. I gently lay Kuvvet down next to Lavender.

I spun around and peered into the box. The orange-faced cat was sitting on the silver-haired kitty’s head to keep him quiet.

I giggled.

“I guess you two can come out then.” I said, humor in my voice.

I had the orange-faced cat get off the silver one. I picked up the silver-haired cat and lifted him out. Just after I did that, before I could set him down, he bit my hand.

Hard.

I yelled out, trying to free my hand from the cat’s jaw. No luck.

Tears pricked my eyes.

“LET ME GO!” I yelled as I saw blood trickle down my hand, finally dripping onto the carpet, “Please… Stop…” I said through tears.

I saw a blur of brown, black, and orange. The silver kitty let go.

I gave a cry of relief, my watery eyes looking at the silver kitty.

The cat looked as if it were smirking at me.

“Your n-name is B-biting B-b-bitch!” I said, pointing at Biting Bitch with my good hand.

Blaze, Happy, and Drac glare at me.

“Fine, your name’s BB. It still stands for that, though!” I said, making the three cats drop their glares and turn to the silver cat, glares menacing.

I scoop up the last cat in my good arm, before running off to the bathroom in tears.

Closing the door, I sank to the bathroom floor, crying. My hand hurt so much.

I heard yowls from downstairs.

I ignored it.

Something in my lap moved before meowing.

I looked down. It was the orange-faced cat.

I sighed tiredly. I had forgotten about him.

“Leave me alone…” I mumbled.

The cat then did something amazing.

He… licked the bite that BB caused.

The pain seemed to reduce.

I smiled thankfully.

“Thank you… Låkare.” I said. “Låkare means doctor in Swedish. I’m part Turkish, and Swedish. That's how I know that.”

Låkare meowed.

“Alright. I need to get my hand some first aid. Hold on a second.”

About 5 minutes later I walked back down, hand wrapped up. Låkare sat on my shoulder.

“Happy, Blaze, Drac… Leave BB alone… DRACULA! STOP HURTING BB!” I said, seeing Drac trying to kill BB.

Drac meowed, obviously irritated.

“Come on, I need to cook dinner.” I said. I smoothly picked up Kuvvet and carried him with Lavender on my other shoulder.

Once in the kitchen, I made a little medical ward for Kuvvet, making his bed as soft as possible. I lay him down and sped upstairs and grabbed a heating pad. Plugging it in and setting it on low, I put a soft rag on top of it then placing Kuvvet on top. I took out some frozen chicken and prepared a poached chicken breast.

Since I had 3 cats, I had to read up on keeping them healthy. Poached chicken breast was a good way to get protein in Kuvvet’s body. I heated up the rice from lunch and when poached chicken was ready, I cut it into small pieces. I put a little water in it. I heat up the meatloaf next. I made 12 little bowls of meatloaf and water.

“Dinner!” I said, placing Låkare on the floor. The 11 lounging cats immediately stopped what they were doing and came to get their food.

Lavender was sitting next to Kuvvet and I gave her dinner to her.

Then I gently awoke Kuvvet for his own dinner.

“Kuvvet, it’s time for you to be nursed back to health.”

It was the beginning of a long rehabilitation.
