I always thought...

                                        I always thought...

I always thought that after my first love, I'd never look at anyone the same. I never even thought that I could love anyone at all until she came along, but then she left me, and I was broken.

"Hi, is anyone sitting there?" A small voice spoke from behind me, I dropped my fairly new book and looked up at the person before me. It was a hot summers day, and being in my reading glasses didn't help the fact I was looking straight into the sun when I was trying to look at the person before me.

"No, take it if you want." I said with a small smile. Just because I coudn't see her doesn't mean she can't see me. I then shifted my body so that I was facing my book again.

"I didn't mean take the chair. I was asking if I could sit down with you?" She repeated, making her previous statement clearer and letting me hear her silky smooth voice again.

"Oh, of course." I responded, quite flustered to be honest. I rarely had people talking to me when I made my trips to earth. I normally came to this very same cafe, chose a book that was being spoken highly about and sat beneath the sun reading or watching the rain trickle down the windows.

Generally the only people that talked to me where the cafe assistants or people on the bus asking for money when I made my way from the portal spot to the cafe.

The still unseen woman sat down on the other side of the table, in the opposite direction of the sun.  At first glance I took in her overall appearance, as I did with most people on the planet, just to check I made it look like I belonged her.

However this was the first time I had ever had to look twice to believe what I had saw. She was unlike any girl I had ever seen.

She looked in her mid  twenties, around the same age I was trying to make myself look. Her eyes were a honey colour and looking at her in the sun the honey looked as if it was flowing. Her hair was shorter than anything I had seen on a girl. Most went for the long hair look, trying to impress me with the fact their hair fell around their waists, but hers just stopped above her shoulders. It was a chocolate colour that shone brightly in the suns rays.

It must have been about a few minutes that I was looking at her, which I saw made her slightly uncomfortable, but when I looked into her eyes and smiled politely which made her look less uncomfortable as she started what I figured was small talk.

"So, what book are you reading?," she queried. As she strained her eyes to read the cover that was half hidden by my hands.

"The Hunger Games. It's a new book that's came out. It was recommended by a friend," I replied, pushing my glasses back up as they began sliding down my nose when I looked down.

"I've read that. I found it captivating. The way the author wrote it was amazing, the only book I'd say that came close would be Divergent," she spoke in a tone that made me want to read this Divergent book and also made me think that the book I was reading now was good.

However I thought this 'Hunger Games' was rather bad. Well, that's compared to the books that I've read over my lifetime. I am from a different era so the book doesn't appeal to me on any level at all.

"There's another book I'm going to have to read then," I lied. If she thought this book was amazing I don't want to read one that she thinks is similar. However, it interested me that she was actually captivated by books.
