Almost Caught

Noah's P.O.V

     Damn it Roxanne! Why would you interrupt us like that! My first kiss, and it was amazing, and you come barging in like you own the place! We leave the bathroom when we hear loud chatter. Duke grabs my hand and pushes me carefully into a space between lockers and squeezed carfully in with me so we where chest to chest. Rox rushes into the girls washroom. As the Football players walked by Duke tensed. After they had gone past we waited there for about five minutes till he was sure they where gone. He quickly moved out of the way a light blush on his face. As we head back to the library I see Duke on his phone.

"Whatcha doing?" Inquires Roxanne peeking over his shoulder.

"I'm texting Holly. I'm telling her we are over." I grin slightly, knowing it's my fault and I'm happy about it. My mind wonders to why he is breaking up with her, unless...

"Hey Noah?" The jock asks.

"Yes?" My heart is pounding hoping he is about to ask what I hope he is.

"Do you want to go out me?" He asks shyly, his face bright red.

"Of course!" I give him a hug (making sure none of the football players were near) and a kiss on the cheek.

We get to the library and sit down and get to work. About half an hour later Roxanne leaves, we hear footsteps approach. Duke looks up and tenses again and whispers to me, "If I have to say anything don't believe what I say." The teen continues to approach the table.

"Hey Duke! What the hell, why aren't you coming to practices?" The teen asks.

"I've been suspended from the team until I get my grades up. The priciapal assigned me to a stupid tutour." He points to me. I put my head down and stare at the table, playing along. Mostly. I feel hurt at his words even though I know he doesn't mean them. They talk for a few more minutes before the teen leaves. Duke takes a seat next to me and we sit in silence until the guy is gone. He pulls me into a hug and apologizes. "I am sorry. I didn't mean any of that. I had to make it believable." I grin at him the pain of the words receding. "It's fine, I may not understand, but it's fine."

      A couple days later the word had gone around that Duke and Holly had broken up and that Duke was declining any girl that asked him out. I smile everytime I hear someone say they wonder why they broke up and why he is declining everyone, being one of the only three people to know.
