(Your POV)

Was she being serious? My parents would personally take a frying pan and whack my head if I ever took illegal drugs.

"Come onn, Y/L/N. This dope is bomb, you gotta try it." she persisted.

"Uh, no thanks. I'm good." I was tempted, but my morals told me otherwise.

"Whatever, your loss," she shrugged casually. "Hands are so weird, don't you think? They're like mini rakes with flesh and blood." her eyes fixed firmly onto her right hand, like she had just unlocked the world's secrets.

I simply chuckled at her high state. "And this is exactly why I'm not getting high with you."

After all, someone had to get her home safe, and I doubted she could do that for herself right now. Her friends were probably drunk too, making me the designated driver. How did I even end up here?

Oh yeah, one reason: Lauren Jauregui.

Parties aren't even my thing, yet the second Lauren suggested the idea I jumped at her offer. Kind of like an excited, lost puppy now that I think about it. Or a lost rat... either works.

*flashback*

God, when will this fucking class end? I silently groaned to myself. My earphones blasted "Touch" as I tried to drown out my surroundings; I really couldn't care less what Mr. Harris was complaining about.

Math is math, surely he should be talking to us about that, not how some of us "need to be more focused in class". He was most likely directing it at me, even if I managed to stay near the top of the class. I wasn't the best though, someone else held that place. No one would really guess that she was top of class, but me being my nosey self knew better. Every time Lauren got her tests back she would always score above 95% marks, but she still dismissed them as if it were nothing special. I knew because I would peer over at her desk often; it's right next to mine and practically in my face.

It came as a shock to me at first, considering the amount of times she gets told off, but I know she's incredibly smart. Effortlessly intelligent.

We might not have the same brain, but we both definitely had something in common right now: boredom. I watched her scoff lightly and roll her eyes at Mr. Harrison, who was still talking 5 minutes after the lesson ended. Nonetheless, I laughed faintly at her antics, and she noticed immediately as she turned my way. Oh shit! My eyes were glued to her own vibrant, verdant ones when she briefly smiled at me before turning back.

"Class dismissed!" our teacher finally announced.

Virtually everyone shot out of their seats ready to leave, some even cheered at his words. I gathered all my belongings hastily, and made a beeline for the door. I was almost out of class before I heard someone talking to me.

"Hey, Y/N! That's your name, right?" I barely heard a voice speak over my music.

Yanking my earphones out, I turned to meet a pair of familiar emerald eyes looking at me. "Yep, that's my name, five points for you!" I jokingly replied. "What's up?"

She chuckled at my lame joke before continuing, "I just wanted to tell you about George's party on Friday, you should come."

I looked at her uneasily, not sure what to say. I had only moved to this school a month ago, and I didn't particularly know anyone. "I don't know... I don't have any proper friends here yet." I honestly said.

"Don't worry, my friends and I will look out for you. Just think about it, I'll see you there hopefully." she reassured me with a calming smile. Shortly after, she turned on her heels and walked away, hands tucked into her leather jacket.

That situation was the one which led me to the one I was in now; babysitting Lauren, surrounded by a crowd of manic teens, and music blaring through my ears. Who even knows where her friends are currently at.

The whole idea of her friends looking after me had clearly not panned out, they all wandered off with before I could even say hi. That's how I found myself in the opposite role, still keeping an eye on Lauren. I wasn't thrilled to be there, but everyone else looked like they were in their element. Taking in my surroundings, I tried to let go of my worries.

This wasn't so bad.

The living room was spacious, not to mention expensive looking, and there were cheers mixed with laughter enveloping me.

Lauren didn't seem to be too high, I assumed, so I decided to give her space for a while. Sure, she invited me, but I didn't want to follow her around and annoy her. She had plenty of guys talking to her anyways, she would be fine for a few seconds.

I got off the bean-bag chair beside her whilst she spoke to George. I needed to try and expand my (nonexistent) circle before I ended up as the school loner. But before I could choose someone to approach, a tall body bumped into me.

"Hey there, beautiful."

A/N: Who's the person..? 👀

Helooo, this most likely sucked ass, but it's something I've never really written before. Also sorry this was really short, its kind of like an introduction to the story.
I'm going to try update this as frequently as I can though, hopefully the chapters will get longer too.

Oh, there's probably a TON of typos lmao (I'm writing this at 1AM with 4% charge and no proof reading). If you don't mind kindly pointing them out, I'll change them.

'Til next time, whenever that may be, stay well lovelies ❤️
