(Your POV)

The green-eyed girl and I were back on track.

I was feeling optimistic, and the hour after school was something I looked forward to.

*the next day*

"Get us that good table! The one next to the glass windows!" Evelyn urgently ordered.

We all left English class, including Lauren, and lunch was next (the only lesson I would take if it were possible). Lauren had already gone off to find her friends, but the rest of us had to follow Lyla to her locker... again. She forgot her phone, so we all rushed down and made our way to our usual table. Honestly, Lyla is the type of friend who would forget her own name, but she's so clueless you can't help but love her.

"Is it still free?" Hallie asked.

We all groaned at the sight. A few metres away I saw a herd of common fuckboys gathered around the table—including George. I unknowingly gave a look of disapproval at his presence, but then I noticed Luke sat with them.

"Evelyn, go tell them to move their asses," Lyla ordered.

"What? Why me?" the short, black haired girl responded.

"Because you're the badass, now go," Hallie joined in, gently nudging her.

"No thanks, I'd rather avoid talking to the plagues of the school," Evelyn scoffed at us.

Luke caught my glance and smiled once he noticed me. He gave me a small wave, and I returned the gesture paired with a friendly smile.

"They're not all that bad," I tried defending Luke inadvertently, because in all truth, he didn't seem like them.

"Y/N, you're only saying that because Luke was practically eye humping you. Girl, don't think we didn't see that," Hallie over exaggerated as Evelyn nodded in agreement, followed by a snort.

I rolled my eyes. "Can we just sit at another table, I'm hungry," I groaned as I led the way in search for another table.

"Yeah, hungry for that—" Hallie tried whispering but failed miserably; I whacked her right arm in response. "Ow!" she laughed.

"Come on kids, I can't keep mothering all of you constantly," Lyla jested. "Find a table already."

I scanned around the canteen quickly and saw no empty tables, but then I saw Lauren sat with her friends. She realised we were looking for a place to sit.

"Hey, Y/N! You guys can come sit with us," Lauren ushered us over, and the rest of her friends smiled up at us.

We all grabbed a chair and sat down with our food. I thanked Lauren and her friends for letting us share.

"It's just a school table, no need to thank us," Lauren's friend replied with a radiant, warm tone.

"Yeah, those things are nasty with all that gum sitting under them," Hallie said.

"Nah, she's just being nice, you all owe us your lives now," another girl said humorously. I had remembered their faces distinctly before, but learning names wasn't my strong point. We all laughed at her joke, and I heard a different friend saying "she's crazy."
