There once was a boy and a girl who were neighbors. They grew up to be the best of friends. She was the stars to his sky. He was leaves to her trees. They were meant to be together from the day they met each other. They grew up but they were always close. There were no secrets. She knew him inside and out. He knew what she would do in every situation.

But the boy. The boy's feelings grew as he grew taller. He watched her bloom into a flower. He saw her smiling and lit up his whole damn world. He watched her as she danced among the sunflowers. His chest fluttered and his stomach tightened, whenever he looked at her.

But the boy and the girl were too young. They didn't understand the harsh world. He would continue loving her. She would continue to light up his world. They continued this routine unknowingly.

But somethings are just meant to break. She moved away when they were 10 years old. She never really said good-bye. The boy wept as he saw the girl's car drive away. He wept after he saw the 'for sale' sign, nailed into the freshly mowed lawn. Little by little, his heart slowly started to break.

The boy never went outside to play anymore. He didn't make any new friends until the end of freshman year. He met another lonely boy. They stuck together because that was all they had. Now they are closer than ever. They've been through thick and thin together. They hold more secrets than a girls group chat.

As for the girl, she was never seen or heard from ever again. She never sent a letter or came back.
