“There’s no point in trying to guess the future, it changes every second.”
I woke up to a rattling noise coming from outside my window. My sleepy eyes looked around the room questioningly and looked at the clock. 3:06 AM. Not hearing any other noises, I laid back down and closed my eyes. Then the noise started again. I jumped out of bed and grabbed the wooden bat from my closet and tip-toed out of my room. I peeked around the corner of the hallway and saw a dark figure climbing into my apartment through the window. As they pulled their leg through the window opening I snuck up behind them and tackled them. The person breaking into my house let out a girlish squeal and groaned when we hit the ground.
“who—Sierra?!” I exclaimed confused.
“Umm… Happy birthday?” she replied.
“Jesus Christ woman! You couldn’t wait until it wasn’t 3 in the morning to sneak into my apartment, or be a normal person and knock on the door at least?” I asked frantically
“Well that would just take the fun out of everything, and you have to admit: you were surprised.” She reasoned. I rolled my eyes and got off of her and stood up. I held my hand out to her and she took it, using it to pull herself up.
“Very true, but at least then I could consider you somewhat normal.” I told her, it was her turn to roll her eyes now. I led us to the kitchen and she sat down while I started making two cups of coffee. “So how are you?”
“I’m good, I got an internship for this fashion magazine.” She said, playing around with the frit basket in front of her, a small smile creeping onto her face.
“What? Sierra that’s awesome! Wow, we just began college and you’re already an intern. But I don’t think that’s the only thing that’s giving you that smile of yours.” I pointed out.
“You’re right, I met this guy. His name is Peter, he’s in the law program there.” She informed me
“And…..?” I pushed her on.
“Well, nothing is official but we’ve gone on a couple of dates and I really, really like him Amy.” She confessed.
“I’m really happy for you Sierra, at least one of is on track to getting her life together.” I chuckled, she laughed along with me and the coffee machine beeped, signaling that the coffee was ready. I grabbed some cups from the cupboard and then poured out the coffee. “1 cream, 2 sugars right?” I asked her and she nodded. I made her drink and then moved onto mine before going over to the counter she was currently at and gave her the cup.
“So I have a surprise.” She started, I gave her a looked and she laughed shoving my arm slightly. “Don’t worry it’s not something illegal… I got us two VIP tickets to the Austin Mahone concert this Friday.”
“You didn’t!” I screamed, she pulled out the two tickets from her purse and grinned at me.
“Oh but I did.” She laughed as I squealed in delight and grabbed the tickets from her hand.
“Oh my God, I love you!” I said and grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.
“I know.” She replied cockily. I looked at the tickets a little while longer and squealed again. I’ve always wanted to go an Austin Mahone concert but I’ve always been so busy with school and trying to help my mom pay for all of our necessities that I never had the money or time to do it. “The concert is in 3 days so we have 3 days to get us awesome clothes for it. Now come on, my suitcases are still in the rental outside.” I groaned but followed her nonetheless outside to where, surely enough, her rental car was parked. We got her two suitcases from the trunk and lugged them inside to the elevator.
