Where is Emma?

Olivias POV

I had to yell over the blasting music to make myself heard. Several people turned around and looked at me, none of them was the one I looked for. I don't think she heard me, I mean, how could she when she hadn't heard me when she stood a few meters away. Two hours, that's how long it was since I last saw her. Emma. I had looked everywhere in the club but I couldn't find her. With a sigh, I had to make the decision to leave the club.

Once outside, I picked up my phone and stared at it. No messages. If she had left the club before me, she would have left me a message on my phone, or find me and tell me. It wasn't hard to find me in a club, really. I was always on the dancefloor. If I wasn't, I was always nearby. I had no idea where Emma would have gone if she was in a club. My first guess was the bar, but it had been empty except a couple in the back corner that was making out. And they had no idea if a girl that looked just like me had been there.

Why didn't she have her phone on? She always had, no exceptions. Now that I thought about it, I had convinced her to leave the phone at home so that she wouldn't worry about valuables being stolen. So of course she hadn't called me, because she couldn't. And the car was still standing where we left it a few hours ago. She had the keys. I knew that she couldn't possibly have been drinking so she should have been able to drive.

Now I finally understood why Emma always got so mad at me when I didn't have my phone on. With no other choice I decided to call the second best option, her best friend.

Kyles POV

I groaned and put the pillow over my head as I heard the familiar ringtone that meant that Olivia called me. In the middle of the night. Something was seriously wrong with that girl if she called me at two am and thought I would pick up. For a few seconds, I seriously considered ignoring the call and call her in the morning so that I could sleep, but then I thought otherwise and answered. Not only because I knew that she wouldn't stop calling if I didn't answer. Because she might be calling about something urgent for once.

"Didn't your mother ever tell you that it's rude to call people at this hour?"

I could almost hear her rolling her eyes at me. "Yeah, and she also told me to stay the hell away from you, and look where that got me."

I snorted. Olivia and I didn't really get along. Never had and never would. The only thing keeping me from ignoring her and never talk to her again was Emma. I first met her several years ago. It was lunch and I saw her sitting all alone at a table in the far back of the cafeteria, not even touching her food and staring out the window. I hadn't noticed her before, probably because we didn't have the same lessons, but I couldn't help but walk towards her table to keep her company. I don't know what made me go there and sit with her that day but I remember it like it was yesterday. Her black hair that hid her from the rest of the world and the chocolate brown eyes that made me melt when she looked at me as I stood by her table. She only shrugged when I asked if I could sit down with her but I saw in her eyes that she was happy that I did. It turned out that she was sad because her sister was sick and she didn't know anyone at the school yet. I found myself being intrigued by her. How she would slightly screw up her nose when she talked about something she didn't like, how she tilted her head when she listened closely to something I said and how her eyes reflected everything she thought or felt. I met her there everyday after that and we soon became best friends. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. At least, until I met her sister. Olivia wasn't like Emma. Sure, they looked the same, but that was where they stopped being the same. Olivia was shallow and vain while Emma was compassionate and kind. I don't mean that Olivia is completely bad, she did have her times when she could be as kind as Emma, but never when she knew I was around.

"Look, if you just called me for chatting about some guy you found again I'm going back to sleep. And I don't care how drunk you are, I will not drive you home. Call Emma about that or something." I felt a bit bad about saying that since I knew how much Emma hated to be the one driving around looking for her sister but hell, I didn't want to be the one doing it.

"Wait!" Something in her voice made me pause and not hang up on her.

      "What?"

"I can't call Emma because I don't know where she is."

I had to press the phone closer to my ear to be sure I heard it right. "What? Why don't you know where she is? She always has her phone on. She's probably at home and watching some girly movie. Or sleeping." I pointed out with a scowling voice.

She ignored my scowling voice. "She's not. I convinced her to come with me to the club and now she's gone." I heard a sob and a sniffing sound. "I don't know what to do Kyle. I've looked everywhere. She's not here."

I swore under my breath and was already out of my bed and looking for pants by the time she finished. "I'll be there in five minutes, don't go anywhere." I said and hung up on her.

Sorry for bringing another guy into this but I just had to do it. It's a lot easier to explain how  Emma is with him there. Plus, he's really sweet. Him driving Olivia mad is just a big bonus. So yeah, as ever, tell me what you think. :)
