(Masked Man x Shy!Reader)

I was sitting in a field of sunflowers, listening to music. It helps calm me down when I have a nervous breakdown or when my anxiety acts up. As I stand up, I brush off the dirt on my (f/c) dress and look off into the distance.

On my right, there was more sunflowers. On my left, there is a path that leads me to my hometown, Tazmily village. I decided to walk more into the sunflower field. I sniff one, and sigh in relaxation.

"Ah, I love the smell...." I said as I smile weakly. It's the only thing it can bring me happiness. My parents barely pay attention to me cause of their jobs at the Yado Inn.

I brush a strand of hair behind my left ear. I came here because I was heartbroken. I had a crush on Fuel and when I was going to confess to him, he was with another girl. How did I know they were a thing? They were holding hands and the girl kissed his cheek.

So I ran here.

I don't know what to do anymore....

I hear a boom off in the distance. I look to see a person with a helmet and a brown sweater with a fur trim around the hoodie. I couldn't see the rest cause of the sunflowers were in the way.

I mustered up the courage to go up to him at ask if he'd okay.

"U-Um, excuse me? A-Are you alright? I heard a boom and....oh my God.." as I was talking the boy turned around and had a gun looking thing on his arm. And his eyes.....they were different colors. But he still had a serious face.

"Sorry if I bothered you, I was just looking at the flowers. They were my mom's favorite." He said as a little smile formed on his face.

"N-No, you're okay! You just scared me.... y-you're not gonna shoot me...right?" I said as I slowly point at the gun. The boy chuckles and pats it.

"No, I actually don't like hurting anyone. But master Porky makes me....anyway, what's your name?"

I slowly smile. "(Y/n), it's nice to meet you. W-Whats your's?"

"Just, call me the masked man for now, we can talk later. The boom from earlier is from the pig army. They're setting off explosives for training. I recommend you leave before-"

"COMMANDER!" Yelled a voice that sounded young, yet old. I see a boy with blonde hair that was rather chubby. "I need you to-why hello there!" He said with an obvious fake smile. "Capture her....she can be useful for the army...." He whispered loud enough for me to hear.

I stiffen and see the Masked Man do the same thing. He mouths 'run' and slowly approaching me. He's probably gonna fake chasing me. I slowly back up and take off running, him going after me. I see the trail to Tazmily village and run there as fast as I could, I stop once I exit the field and turn around. I see the Masked Man panting behind me.

"Okay, I think we lost Master Porky. Go to Tazmily and stay in your house for a bit. I don't know  how long he wants to stay here but just stay safe." He said.

"B-But what about you? Your master will be mad at you, wouldn't he?" I said.

"I'll just say you got into the village before I got to catch up to you, simple enough. He's pretty gullible." He said as he chuckled.

I nod and my small smile falters a bit. My face flushes and I look to the ground.

"W-Will I be seeing you again?"

The Masked Man looks at me with his face a little pink.

"Uh....yeah, meet me here tomorrow." I throw my arms around his neck.

"Thanks for letting me escape...."

"No problem." He let's go and kisses my cheek. "I'll see you later then!" I nod as he runs back into the sunflower field to his master.

I stand there, just blushing. I skip back to my house. My parents were home and actually looked at me.

"What's gotten you so happy today?" My mom chuckled.

"I made a new 'friend'" I said as I twirled. "He's very kind!"

My father looked at me with suspension. "Wait did you say 'he'? You're not​ gonna have a boyfriend right?" I walked down the hall into my room and smiled.

"I can't make any promises~"
