When Your Love for a Wolf isn't Enough

Secret Not Well Kept

Kenni stayed silent behind the tree. She had been waited for 30 minutes just watching as Jacob and his two friends just sat there.

"There it is!" Seth called. Kenni peeked her head out from behind the tree. Jacob and the boys started running. Kenni walked behind them. She slowly walked trying to be silent then picked up her pace. She went from walking to jogging. The boys jumped and dove into giant, monsterous wolves. Kenni stopped short. She was stunned to see them run off as oversized wild dogs. She gasped but then closed her mouth with her hands and she hurried behind a tree. Embry's wolf looked back as he caught on to Kenni's scent. He started to stalk close to the tree where Kenni was hiding his head begun to turn. Kenni tried her best not to make a sound. Jacob's wolf huffed. Embry's wolf ran towards him as they kept going deeper in the forest. Kenni walked toward the shredded clothes and saw her inhaler covered by the jean fabric. She clutched the inhaler with so many question. Kenni walked back home scared and suprised at what she witnessed. Kenni sat down in her bed and turned to the Night Creatures' section in one of her books. She searched for the werewolf pages. She studied the pictures and read about legends of wolves that could stand 10 feet high. Kenni jumped on the computer and typed: Werewolves in Washington

She saw articles about giant bear sightings, unusual marks in the forest and disappearings. Kenni soon came across the stories of the La Push werewolves and their histories....

Bella was doing her homework in her room. Edward swifted in from the window and brush his hand up her back. Bella snickered and turned around.

"Hi" she said.

"Hi" he whispered.

"So what's up?" Bella said sitting up.

"Nothing. I'm just..." Edward started.

"Just what?" she said.

"I worried for Kenni." he groaned.

"Why? Is she being hunted down by vampires, too" Bella joked.

"No...I've talked to Jacob a few weeks ago. And, Kenni didn't have her inhaler because, Jacob took it. And I read his thoughts. Something may have happened between them. That's all I could pick up." Edward explained.

"...Jacob not that hardcore to threaten her life. And he wouldn't do that. Would he?" she said.

"I don't know. But, don't be so comfortable around him right now." he suggested.

"Ok. Fine." Bella said a little frustrated.

Edward kissed her forehead."I'll be back later." he said and left.

Bella thought about the conversation she had with Jacob. She didn't know what to believe.

Kenni waited outside for Bella. Bella pulled up in her truck."We need to talk." Bella said pushing the car forward.

Kenni just looked at her.

"Did you and Jacob fight that night? Did he say something that offended you?"Bella asked.

"No" Kenni whispered.

"You sure?" she said.

Kenni nodded. Kenni didn't want to be the bad guy and say she started even if she didn't mean it.

"Now, we need to talk." Kenni said.

"What?" Bella said.

"Jacob.................................................is dangerous." she said.

"Does this have anything to do with that night?" Bella said.

"No! Yesterday, I saw him.........................do something." Kenni said.

"......What do you mean?" she said.

"Look, I don't care if you think I am crazy or not! I'm going to go ahead and say it! I saw Jacob and two other boys turn into giant wolves!!!" she said. Bella was frozen.

"Have you told anyone?" Bella whispered.

"No. I learned about them. Even the stories of the cold ones." Kenni said.

"......................................................................................................Have you seen them?" Bella asked.

"No." Kenni responded nervously.

"................."

There was a silence."They must be real too." Kenni said.

Bella still didn't talk.

Bella had to beg Kenni to come to Edward's house with her. She needed Edward to explain something to her. Edward kindly sat down infront of her on the couch.

"You've read the stories?" he asked.

"Yes. Most of the legends..........and the La Push history." she said.

"So you already know everything." Edward said sitting up.

"...........Does that mean I am going to you and your families next meal?" Kenni said.

"No. We don't feed off of humans. Only animals." Edward laughed.

Kenni cracked a smile"So..............All I have to do is not tell anyone. I won't be killed?" Kenni asked a lil nervous.

"As long as you stay quiet and out of danger.....................You're ok." he said with a reassuring smile.

"Ok. Can I go now?" she asked.

"No questions?" Edward said.

Kenni shook her head and walked out the door. Bella was behind her and drove her home.

Bella's phone rang. She answered.

"Hello?" she said

"Hey." Jacob said.

"Hi.............Um, Jacob there is an issue."

"What?" Jacob kind of laughed.

"A few days...............Kenni said she saw you transform."Bella said.

Jacob froze."Has she told anyone?"he asked nervously.

"No.........I don't think she will,though." she said.

Jacob hung up the phone. He was shocked. How could she have followed him into the forest? Why would she follow him?
