Chapter 23.

Mayas POV:

Hayes didnt come home. He didnt fucking come home and i am so worried. I'm sitting on the couch clutching my phone.

When i came back i changed into my black silk romper pyjamas and threw my hair up in a messy ponytail. I went back down to wait for hayes. He never came.

I look at the clock seeing it was 4am. I felt really tired. The after party finished around 2am and by now everyone was home. But not hayes.

I suddenly hear the door of our house unlock and footsteps inside.
"Hayes," I whispered.
"Hayes?" I asked. He grunts.
"Where have you been?" I asked.

"None of your fucking business maya," he slurred. It was pretty obvious he was drunk. But something caught my eye.
A small bruise on his neck... kind of like a hickey.

Wait? A hickey... hold up did hayes just come home with a hickey?

"Hay-" i say before he interrupts me.
"Can you shut the fuck up! You are giving me a head ache! I'm going to bed!" He spat.

I bite my lip trying not to cry by his words. He couldn't look me in the eyes. I knew something happened with him tonight! Did he make out with anyone? Did he... did he have sex with another girl?

I shake my head.
Hayes can be a whole lot of things but for the three years i have known him he has never cheated! He promised me i was the only girl he wanted.

I play around with the promise ring hayes gave me.

Am i still his forever?

I walk upstairs to see hayes shirtless. I don't walk into the room but what i do see is scratches on his back.

Hickeys. Scratches on his back.

"What happened to you?" I ask
"What?" He grunted.
"I said what the fuck happened to you?" I say harshly.
"Oh me and the boys were messing around and shit kinda got agressive," he says.

"K..." i say
"Oh come on baby are you really going to be mad at me?" Hayes asks.

I walk towards my bed and grab my pillow and blanket.
"Where are you going?" Hayes says.
"Downstairs!" I shout.

Hayes walks over towards me.
I set the pillow and blanket on the sofa and cross my arms.

"Come back to bed..." he smiles.
I put the middle finger up at him.
"Silent treatment aswell?" He groans.

"STOP BEING SO FUCKING STUBBORN!" He says.
"ME STUBBORN! HAYES I DONT WANT TO SLEEP WITH YOU TONIGHT FUCK OFF!" I yell.

"Fine..." he sighs. He looks at me one last time and walks away.

I just sat there in shock.
He didnt fight for you... h-he didn't try to be with you.

Normally hayes would do anything in his way to make things right but tonight... tonight it just seemed as if hes givven up over all.

I walk upstairs to grab my charger when i hear crying from my room.

"Nash... bro... i fucked everything up! How could i do that to her? Yes nash i know! Man of course i love her! I want to spend the rest of my life with her! She is the only girl i want and all i do is fuck everything up over AND OVER again! Sometimes i wish i never met her! Yes i do mean it! Shit wouldnt be complicated! I wouldn't be in love and I wouldn't hurt her anymore!" He cried.

I stood behind the door listening to the conversation.

"She cant find out what i did! No bro! Its only going to kill her! You remember what shes been through? If i tell her what i did it'll only break her and god knows what will happen! Man imagine if this was with you and taylor! What would you do? Exactly my point!" He said now raising his voice.

"SHE CANT KNOW I AM SLEEPING WITH LOREN!" He said.

Instantly i gasp and run into the bathroom.

He..he cheated on me with loren! How can he? How can he lie to me! I knew something was up but CHEAT ON ME WITH MY BESTFRIEND!!!

"Babe?" Hayes knocked on the door and i wiped my eyes and opened the door.
"Yeah..." i smiled weakly.
"You okay?" He ask.
"Yep." I say bluntly.

"Look I'm sorry for coming home late, i was with nash and..." he says. I instantly zone out.

He is lying to me. Hayes you know i dont like liars. Stop lying hayes please just look me in the eyes and tell me you cheated! Everything will be okay then! I will leave you and this pain will leave!

"Maya?" He asks
"Please forgive me, i love you," he said.
I look up at him and weakly smile. Man how can i still love him?

Because he is the same hayes you fell in love with three years ago.

"I forgive you.." i say.
"I love you maya," he smiles kissing my lips as he smiled against them. I quickly pushed away as things nearly got heated.

"Now if you dont mind i need to use the bathroom,"
"Its cool," hayes said as he walked into our room.

I close the door and walk over to the sink. I look at the mirror. Its me. Maya.
Maya Noelle.

I was feeling like 13 year old me. A girl who hated herself. I feel like that again. I lick my lips to taste cherry. I hated cherry. But i knew for a fact A GOD DAMN FACT LOREN USED CHERRY CHAPSTICK!

I let out a quiet yell as I rubbed my lips furiously to get the taste off my lips.

"I will never look at you the same way again Benjamin hayes grier! Never! I may love you a lot but this, the passion we have, its gone!" I whisper to myself as i cry in my hands.

After a few minutes of crying my heart out, i get cleaned up and walk into the bedroom.

"Come on babe," he smiles as hayes makes room on the bed for me. I sigh and walk towards him.

"You okay?" He asks
I weakly smile and kiss his cheek.
"Mhhmm..." i say.
Hayes yawns and lays down.
"Night maya, i love you" he says as he wraps his arms around me.

I feel a lump in my throat. I cant say it. I just can't.
"Mhhmm.." i say pretending to fall asleep.
"You are cute when you are sleepy," hayes whispers as he caresses my cheek.

I flinch at his movement but dont open my eyes. I hear him sigh and turn his back to me as he falls asleep. I slowly open my eyes and bite my lip trying not to cry. Because what is saw on his back just made me want to leave. But my heart didn't let me.

Scratches.

This relationship is poison... so why is it that i keep wanting to come back for more? He is hers now. Not mine but i cant help but feel love towards him.

Why is love so complicated?
