i was walking out of my last class of the day, when i got a text from auston.
from auston matts: hey beautiful if you don't have any plans tonight, come to my game at 6. i have tickets and a surprise for you at will call under your name! hope to see you tonight. x
i couldn't help but smile. auston's so sweet and im beginning to like him a lot. i didn't have any plans tonight than probably a movie night with eileen. i texted her to ask her if she wanted to come.
to eileen: wanna go to the leafs game tonight? auston got me a ticket.
from eileen: yeah, willy got me one too!
since eileen has a ticket too, i texted auston back saying i was going to be able to make it. the time was now 4:30pm and i was on my way to my dorm to start getting ready for the game.
eileen and i were on our way to the acc, excited for our first leafs game. i was wearing a white sweater, ripped light blue jeans, tan sandals, and a maple leafs hat over my long wavy hair.
we walked up to will call to grab out tickets and whatever this "surprise" from auston was. the lady handed us our tickets and handed us two maple leaf shirts. eileens said "nylander fan club" and mine said "matthews fan club". those boys are too freaking sweet. we went to the restrooms to change and i got a text from auston.
from auston matts: come to the players lounge and hang with us for a bit
i had no clue where the players lounge was. i just casually looked around for maybe a security guard or something, when i saw steph not too far in the distance.
"steph!" i yelled as she turned around and made her way over to us.
"do you know where the players lounge is?" i asked her.
"yeah," she replied as she gave me and eileen hugs, "just follow me."
on our way to the lounge we chatted and caught up with each other. we walked into the room and auston immediately turned to me and smiled. i smiled back and went up to him and hugged him.
"i missed you" he said snuggling into me on the couch. ugh he was just too freaking cute.
"i missed you too" i replied turning to him and smiling. it was october so i was busy with settling in at university of toronto, and haven't been able to see auston and the boys as much as i would like to. we still hung out quite a bit.
"you two are absolutely the cutest!" i heard steph say. i looked to auston and he had some red on his cheeks. i imagined mine were more red.
"yeah, we are." auston said.
i was introduced to some more of the leafs, along with their ladies. we hung around and talked for a while before the guys had to go to the locker room and get ready for the game. a lot of the ladies stayed in the lounge to watch the game from up there, but me, steph, sydney, and eileen went down to the stands to watch the game.
the leafs beat the canucks 5-2 and they all played so well out there. me growing up in florida, i didn't know anything about hockey other than going to a lightning game here or there with my older brothers. i'm more of a baseball fan. being in toronto, it was a whole different ball game. at the amalie the fans are crazy, but they don't even compare to the ones at the acc. im looking foward to this year and season.
we met up with the guys at the locker room once they were done with their usual post game interviews. auston walked over to me, looking mighty fine in a suit with his wet hair, and gave me a big hug.
"congrats on that win! you played so amazing out there, i'm so proud of you!" i exclaimed to him.
"yeah she literally was fangirling when you scored your second goal" i heard steph say. a blush crept its way onto my cheeks as i rolled my eyes.
"don't worry babe, i find it super cute that you get all excited watching me play." he whispered to me before he kissed me on the cheek. i just smiled and smiled. my cheeks actually hurt from how much auston makes me smile.
everyone was in the lobby of the acc congratulating each other when auston pulled me aside from the rest. i looked at him with a confused look, wondering what he was going to tell me.
"so uh do you want to go to dinner with me? tomorrow night?" he said as he nervously scratched the back of his neck.
for laughs, i made it look like i was in thought for a few moments even though the answer was a complete yes. i looked at him before replying.
"hmm no." i said looking at him dead serious. immediately i saw his whole demeanor change. he looked really disappointed.
"oh uh okay well" he said before i cut him off.
"of course i'll go to dinner with you silly!" i said giving him a big hug. he pulled away and looked at me chuckling and shaking his head.
"a girl with humour, great." i looked into his eyes, grabbed him by the tie pulling him closer to me.
"pick me up at 7" i said as i barely brushed my lips against his, teasing him.
i walked away confidently. i turned around to see auston looking at me shocked. i sent him a wink, grabbed eileen, and headed onto the streets of toronto.
